I like Sarah Silverman. She gained bonus points when she did a song with my favourite band, Walk off the Earth (a cover of Video Killed the Radio Star). The book started out good, with some stories from her childhood and adolescence. Later stories about her career veered into pretty much just telling the reader about how great each of her friends are. Which is nice, just not interesting to me.🤷♀️
Laugh out loud funny — but maybe don‘t listen to it out loud at work like I did! 🙈😅 Thankfully I work alone on overnights — but still... she says vagina A LOT. 😝 #marchunshelfing
Starting the first book off my bookshelf for #MarchUnshelfing. I‘ll be tackling this one by listening to the audiobook while I tackle my reports at work tonight, and then finishing it off by reading my physical copy.
I audiobooked this one. It was okay. I was expecting more funny than I got. I had such hopes for the metaphorical language & meta, but I did enjoy a large handful of good laughs. Trigger warning for some hate language, which she defends in the book, but that this subjective listener was offended by. I don't doubt her intentions, but I do question her in-defence logic. Sarah's youth was too similar to my own privileged one for me to learn anything.
For my very first #audiobook, I've decided to give #AudioIroning a go. Risky, I know, but I like to live dangerously.
I really enjoyed this book. The audiobook was narrated by Sarah Silverman, so any fan of hers should make a point of listening. The only problem I had with this is the various loving anecdotes about Louis CK and Al Franken. This book was published years before the current sexual assault allegations, so now certain parts of this book take on a darker connotation. They are not a major fixture in the book though, so if you love Sarah, check it out.
This was not my usual fare. It was funny, but I struggled to get through it. I started in February, put it down in March, and just finished it in the last two days. Eh...

There were parts of this book that were genuinely funny. I was very surprised by how open and honest Sarah was in discussing some of her personal struggles. The reason I gave this a so-so rating is because the author continually used the word "retarded" as a descriptor for things silly, foolish, etc... One time would have been bad enough, but she did it many times. I think an intelligent adult should know better.
First audiobook of April, here we go!
🔔🔔 $1.99 ebook sale today. Silverman talks about her childhood, depression, and years of creating her show with humor and candor.
Funny but definitely not for everyone. If you know her comedy, this is a funny quick read/listen. 🙃
