8 posts | 8 read | 5 to read
A classic childrens story from the worlds best-loved childrens author, Enid Blyton. Be whisked away by these magical Wishing-Chair stories. When Mollie and Peter go to buy their mother a birthday present, they discover the most extraordinary thing: a chair that can fly and grant wishes! The Wishing-Chair takes them on some marvellous adventures to a castle where they narrowly escape from a giant and rescue Chinky the pixie, to the Land of Dreams, and to a disappearing island! Enid Blyton is arguably the most famous childrens author of all time, thanks to series such as The Wishing-Chair, The Faraway Tree, The Mysteries, The Famous Five and The Secret Seven. Her fantasy books, including The Adventures of the Wishing-Chair, are among her most popular creations and they promise to enchant boys and girls for generations to come.

This is a cute book that uses imagination. For kids between 4 to 7, a flying chair that promises fun. #ISpyBingoNov @TheAromaofBooks

tina_b.ooks New Zealand IS so pretty! 😍❤ 6y
emilyrose_x @tina_b.ooks My geography teacher was from New Zealand and she would always talk about it and show us photos. I think that's where my love of it has come from ❤ 6y

Moray_Reads I love all things Enid Blyton ♥️ 7y
Centique OMG yes. And I read it to both my kids - plus the Faraway Tree books. I loved both those series so much 😍😍😍 7y
GlassAsDiamonds Oh I loved this as a kid (but I think they‘ve renamed the pixie Binky which just irritates me for some reason)!!! 7y
LauraBeth I had the Circus Series - which may explain some things...😂 7y
TrishB Loved it ❤️ 7y
RealLifeReading 🙋I loved this! I also adored the Magic Faraway Tree series and all the farm books! 7y
LeahBergen @JoScho @Mdargusch It‘s such a cute story (like much of Enid Blyton). 7y
LeahBergen @GlassAsDiamonds Really?? That‘s taking things a bit far. The name Chinky doesn‘t refer to any “racial” quality of the pixie (unlike some of Blyton‘s other stories 😬). 7y
LeahBergen @LauraBeth Noooo! 😂😂 7y
DivineDiana It‘s a new one to me! Love a flying chair! 7y
GlassAsDiamonds @LeahBergen agreed! (I was annoyed enough that Fanny and Dick have been renamed in the RE-release of The Enchanted Faraway Tree But Chinky is a bridge too far. Silliness run rampant). 7y
HKGirl I read lots of Enid Blyton growing up, but somehow never this one! 7y
Dawny1 This was one of my favourite books as a child. I recently got reminded of it by a friend. I had totally forgot about this and the Magic Faraway Tree! I treated myself to an omnibus of all the wishing chair stories today...can‘t wait to read it! 3y
LeahBergen @Dawny1 Aww, lovely! It‘s nice to find another fan of this book. We‘re quite rare, I think. 😆 3y
