Audiobook review courtesy of Hoopla. I think there‘s an idea here but it could have been a short story, it‘s not worthy of a novel. The narrator is below average but passable. This time it‘s probably the story that brings down the narration. I‘m glad it was free but even so I cranked the play-back up to 2X. ⭐️1/2

Our trip to Cali wore me out. Trying to get laundry and house work caught up after getting home and to bed Friday morning at 5:30 and working 10-7 then Saturday 10-5 and now being sick. Haha this momma is so tired. I wanted an easy read for nap time today so I picked Sip out of my tbr pile. Got 23 pages in and passed out! It was getting good too!!!

This book was pretty good. I would‘ve like to read some from the point of view from “the domers”, but it was a good book. It was a different take on a dystopian world, where there are “drug addicts” and the clean people who hid themselves away.

Can also be used as 1 word title for #LRC. I used Hunger, but technically there is a subtitle.

I'm working really hard to finish all the eARCs and print galleys I have that publish/ed in 2017 to clear the slate for 2018. So this one is bizarro but reading quickly.

Really interesting but sadly underdeveloped premise. The author clearly has a fabulous imagination but all the character and plot points were half-developed. I wouldn‘t read anther novel by Carr, but I could see enjoying his short stories. 2/5 stars

If you know Carr, you know he writes strange books and this one is no different-getting high off shadows, selling body parts in a market, and being able to contort oneself are all part of the book. I thought the book started strongly, but kind of fizzled out as it took a different path for a bit. I also found it confusing at times as it jumps scenes w/o warning. For those with triggers, shadow sipping is described as one would describe rape.

For the most part I‘ve been listening to my #screamathon books, but today I‘m reading a physical copy of this apocalyptic fantasy where people get high by drinking their shadows. 😱

A TBR pile so exciting, I'm completely paralysed by indecision.

This book is weird, y'all, and has a very specific audience that would totally go for a dystopic novel that is Christopher Priest's Inverted World + Hubert Selby's Requiem for a Dream set in a Cormac McCarthy western. Brutal and bleak, but a really interesting read.

OMG OMG OMG OMG! It was AMAZING. A post-apocalyptic novel about a world where people get high by ingesting SHADOWS. It was bananapants and I loved every single word of it. You will hear me mention this book MANY more times before August. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
