Fix
Fix | David Baldacci

David Baldacci's remarkable detective Amos Decker--the man who can forget nothing--was first introduced in the sensational #1 New York Times bestseller Memory Man. Now Decker returns in a stunning new novel . . . THE FIX Amos Decker witnesses a murder just outside FBI headquarters. A man shoots a woman execution-style on a crowded sidewalk, then turns the gun on himself. Even with Decker's extraordinary powers of observation and deduction, the killing is baffling. Decker and his team can find absolutely no connection between the shooter--a family man with a successful consulting business--and his victim, a schoolteacher. Nor is there a hint of any possible motive for the attack. Enter Harper Brown. An agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency, she orders Decker to back off the case. The murder is part of an open DIA investigation, one so classified that Decker and his team aren't cleared for it. But they learn that the DIA believes solving the murder is now a matter of urgent national security. Critical information may have been leaked to a hostile government--or worse, an international terrorist group--and an attack may be imminent. Decker's never been one to follow the rules, especially with the stakes so high. Forced into an uneasy alliance with Agent Brown, Decker remains laser focused on only one goal: solving the case before it's too late.

Another successful book written by Baldacci. The characters and the storyline are both well developed. Baldacci keeps you guessing and makes you *think* you have the plot figured out, only to throw you for another loop. Great book to read at any time

I had to work hard for this one! It took me about a month to get thru it-I read so many books while I was also working on this one. The things I liked, I really liked: Decker, his friends/coworkers, their trust with one another. But I was kinda bored by the case they were solving and that slowed the story down in places. STILL. I‘m gonna keep reading because I‘m fascinated by Amos Decker, how his mind works, and how he relates to other people.

"You've done the tear duct dance already" - Amos Decker to Natalie. I loved this line and may have to use it sometime. I didn't realize this was 3rd in a series by I thought it fine for a stand alone read. It had a twist on the mystery in which I didn't see coming. Though 81 chapters, they were short and easy to read.

This book was borrowed from the library with this word being white out! Can you believe someone would do this? There are actually 3 areas in this book like it. I will tell the library when I return it. Good book by the way.

Late last night I started book 3 in the excellent Amos Decker series. I listened to the first two, and they are books that work well as audiobooks. I am reading this one so it will be interesting to see how it compares.

Maybe, just maybe I can finish this book tonight since the library takes it back tomorrow! Might as well get busy...

jbhops @Pamwurtzler shhhh... don't tell anyone but since these are just for fun, we're using the mix that comes in the bag. Thank you, Betty. Just add butter and 1 egg. 😉 7y

It's really hard to find something to post a picture of when listening to an audio book on overdrive.😉

That being said, I figured out what I like about these books. Even though there is a new female character being introduced, there isn't automatically a new love interest. Thank you, Baldacci. Men and women can work together and not be romantically involved!

Baldacci is a top-notch writer who can craft a thriller with the best of them. While I'm not totally sold on a hero with two special abilities as the result of an injury, he makes it work. After witnessing a fatal shooting in front of the Hoover Building, Amos Decker sets out to find the links that join them. He soon discovers a plot with international ramifications. This is the third book in the series and I just wish I had read them in order.

My brother recommended this book but forgot (or didn't know) that it's not the first in the series. Wish I'd known that before I started reading. So far, it's an excellent thriller.

Richryan52 @mrbook by the way. Thank you for your thought-provoking questions 7y

Book three in a trilogy featuring Amos Decker, the man who forgets nothing. Best indicator is the fact that I read it in 24 hours...unusual for me. Love this author and this character in particular.

Amos Decker is my favorite Baldacci character - and I will read every book ever written in this series. That being said, this was my least favorite of the series. I was interested enough to stick with it - but wanted more of Amos' special abilities to play a part in the resolution of the mystery.

I like Amos Decker more and more!!! Another great book by Baldacci 😎

Andrew65 This is next up for me in the Amos Decker series. 8y
Booknerd2 @Andrew65 it's very good. Think I like it better than the first. Did you read his Camel Club series? Wish he'd bring that one back 🤔 8y
Andrew65 @Booknerd2 I also thought book 2, The Last Mile, was better than book 1. Not read either the Camel Club or Will Robie Series, and once finished the last book in the King and Maxwell Series and have read The Fix I want to target both those series. Thanks for the reminder about The Camel Club. 😊 8y
