Mia Haas has built a life for herself far from the North Dakota town where she grew up, but when she receives word that her twin brother is missing, shes forced to return home. Once hailed as the golden boy of their small town, Lucas Haas disappeared the same day the body of one of his high school students is pulled from the river. Trying to wrap her head around the rumors of Lucass affair with the teen, and unable to reconcile the medias portrayal of Lucas as a murderer with her own memories of him, Mia is desperate to find another suspect. All the while, she wonders, if hes innocent, why did he run? As Mia reevaluates their difficult, shared history and launches her own investigation into the grisly murder, she uncovers secrets that could exonerate Lucasor seal his fate. In a small town where everyones history is intertwined, Mia will be forced to confront her own demons, placing her right in the killers crosshairs. Follow Me Down is a rare finda gutsy, visceral, and beautifully crafted psychological thriller.

This book was really between a so-so and a pick for me and I can‘t really explain why. The main character, who returns to her home town to search for her missing twin brother who has been accused of killing his student, is sort of annoying and there are red herrings galore. By about the half way point, I was invested though, and the pace certainly picked up. #covid19readathon

Mehso-so

The first half of this book really dragged for me; maybe I was just in a reading slump? But the second half went super quick and I was clueless until the end!
🌟🌟🌟1/2

TheLudicReader Exactly the same way I felt about this book. 😁 5y

And today the dogs don‘t want me to read (I promise they‘re just playing, not killing each other 🤷‍♀️) BUT I am going to finish this book today!!!

DGRachel When Pilot and Samia were alive, they'd make so much noise playing together that I was sure someone would call the cops claiming I was running a dog fighting ring! 😂 5y
Jennick2004 @DGRachel I get them called on me...but it‘s just the crabby old lady next door who doesn‘t like it when they bark for 30 seconds 🤷‍♀️ 5y

The book takes place in the US, but the Canadian author mentions kids playing "knock-knock ginger," which I was worried was something detrimental to redheads, but turns out to be a popular British expression for doorbell ditch. ?

UnabridgedTomes Stuff like that really takes me out of the book; linguistic differences are interesting, but I want to tell authors to do their homework if they want me to suspend disbelief while I'm reading. 8y
janeycanuck This Canadian has never heard it called that. It's nicky-nicky-nine-doors around here. 8y
LauraBrook How funny! It's ding dong ditch here in Wisconsin. 8y

Si.

Notafraidofwords Yes ! So so so true. & the worst times when you are let down is when someone says "trust me". It's all down hill from there. 8y
TartanCrusader It's like those people who preface their racist statements with "I'm not racist, but...". I always think, at those times, "No, you *are* a racist butt". 8y
AlexMay Brings to mind that compilation of Trump saying "Believe me ... " 8y
melbeautyandbooks @TartanCrusader Yes! They should just start with I'm a racist butt. @AlexMay Yes! I don't understand how people believe what he says. SMH 8y

Pickpick

This debut was an awesome thrill ride with my favorite elements: murder, secrets, betrayal, lies, dysfunctional families, abuse, many twists and turns! Not sure what that says about me but I'm not gonna overthink it now😂!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
