Stumbled upon this on Amazon the other day and couldn‘t resist buying it. I don‘t remember anything about it except that I loved it as a kid… if nothing else, the kids will enjoy flipping through it

CSeydel We loved this one when my kids were young! 11mo

I wanted to LOVE this. As someone who grew up on lost-world-fantasy lit, I thought this was going to be my jam! But my reading identity has changed drastically. Now, I need a plot's momentum to keep me invested. Dinotopia (bk 1) did not have that sort of plot or high stakes. Then again, this isn't that sort of story. It's good for Jules Verne fans and simply lingering over (the artwork? STUNNING).

Gonna focus on the egg laying component of “6 geese a‘laying” for the #12DaysofChristmas Here are dinosaurs laying their eggs in the comfort of the hatchery in northwestern Dinotopia.

And dinosaurs are related to birds so it‘s all good.

Lcsmcat They get a pipe organ? Cool. 6y

#FillYourHeart (another tune from my beloved Hunky Dory album) is a go-to song when I'm down because it is such an expression of unbridled joy. The Dinotopia series is the same thing except in book form.

Marchpane Gorgeous illustration ♥️ This song makes me happy too 😁 7y

readordierachel The opening sequence of Baby Driver was out of this world. I don't even like car chases but it was sooo good. 7y
Dragon Going to Baby Driver tomorrow! By the way, that's a cute accessory you're holding 😀🐉 7y
mklong Ooh I'm seeing Baby Driver this weekend because my bestie won't shut up about it. When I heard the title, I really thought it was a Rob Schneider comedy with babies driving cars 😂 7y
brennahawleycraig We are seeing Baby Driver tomorrow! 7y
Suet624 I've seen Baby Driver twice and my daughter wants to go so I may go a third time. Obsessive? 7y
saresmoore @Suet624 Between you and Sir Tobey, here, I think I oughta see this movie! 7y
Suet624 @saresmoore there's murder and mayhem which generally I don't like. But the music and the choreography involved in each scene is spectacular. And I always knew ahead of time when to close my eyes. The music was the lead character for me. 7y
saresmoore Also, I love this photo. And now I'm kicking myself for not saying Freaks & Geeks! Also, also, still praying for and thinking of you three/four & the impending new family addition! 7y
saresmoore @Suet624 Anticipatory eye closing is one of my prized survival skills! It sounds amazing. 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Dragon @mklong @brennahawleycraig You are in for a wild time at the movies. Would love to hear what you think! 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Suet624 Edgar Wright has been one of my favorite directors since his 1st film! If you dig the way Baby Driver mixes music and mayhem you should see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, his previous movie, if you haven't yet. @saresmoore Much thanks! Our first little guy showed up long past his due date, and it looks like kiddo 2 is taking after his big brother. 7y
ValerieAndBooks I will have to look into Waterbury -- my daughter goes to University of Hartford ! 7y
eekabook Baby Driver was sooooooooooooooooooo good!!! 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @ValerieAndBooks I worked at an inner-city day camp there for many many summers. 7y
ValerieAndBooks So you are familiar with the area! My daughter is in the dance program there (the Hartt School) and -- book-related-- I have yet to see the Mark Twain or Harriet Beecher Stowe homes there. 7y
Suet624 @TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yes! I feel the same as you do about Edgar Wright. 😀 7y
mklong Oooh I loved Baby Driver!! Being from Atlanta it was awesome to see one of the many movies shot here, actually set here! Their geography is a little wonky but who really cares? Aside from Bo's Diner, all the restaurants, coffee shops, etc... are real places. Definitely plan to use some of Baby's skills on my morning commute tomorrow! 🚗💨 7y

Dinotopia was always a #childhooddelight and I'm sure this final volume, Journey to Chandara, will be a #TBRhighlight. I own it but I'm saving it for... something I haven't determined yet.

While I'm hashtagging, I'll throw a #recommendsday in as well. If you love art and dinosaurs and meticulous world building or have kids that love any of those things you should check out this island apart from time where humans and dinos live in peace.

lauren.lerner I'll be interested to hear what you think of this Dinotopia book. 7y

Sad to say the final two sequels to Dinotopia really don't hold up. This one in particular disappointed me because it had such potential... beautiful illustrations but meh story and I wouldn't blame you for skipping it. #dinotopia

cozypunk Is there a particular Dinotopia book you recommend? I just finished the first one. 4y

A while back I e-mailed the branch manager of the first library I ever went to and asked if she had any pictures of the original building--a tiny, intimate place where the shelves surrounded you. She sent this along and I promptly cried. This is the place where I found magic and adventure, and I can never forget it.
