Kingdom of the Golden Dragon
Kingdom of the Golden Dragon | Isabel Allende
12 posts | 28 read | 4 to read
Reunited once more, young Alexander Cold and his best friend, Nadia, embark upon a new adventure, following Alex's frighteningly fearless journalist grandmother Kate to a forbidden kingdom hidden away in the frosty peaks of the Himalayas. They seek the fabled Golden Dragona sacred statue and priceless oracle coveted by a greedy and powerful outsider. To prevent the desecration of the holy relic, they will need the help of a sage Buddhist monk, his young royal disciple, and a fierce tribe of Yeti warriors. But even the mystical power of their totemic animal spirits may not be enough to save the teenagers and this remote world from the destructive encroachment of civilization. Kingdom of the Golden Dragon is the second book in a remarkable trilogy by internationally acclaimed author Isabel Allende.

Pickpick

Two teens Alexander and Nadia follow Kate, a reporter, into a mysterious country in the Himalayas and run into trouble when a mafia-like group steal the sacred golden dragon. Adventure and mysticism ensue after Nadia & other girls from the kingdom are kidnapped and Alexander, a prince, & a monk must save them and the dragon. A community of yetis play their part as well. This is a jam-packed YA novel I enjoyed very much. ⬇️

Texreader This is book 2 in a trilogy but I was ok reading this one first. Book 3 is set in Africa so I‘ll plan to read it next year. #authoramonth #readingasia2021 @Soubhiville @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle (edited) 3y

“a human life was more important *that* all the gold in the world.” Arg! Almost to the end of the book and there‘s a typo. Why does this always happen? It‘s like the proofreader gets tired.

I just started this one tonight for #authoramonth and my myriad other reading challenges. It‘s set in the Himalayas so it works for #readingasia2021 and because it‘s crazy cold and snowy, #wintergames #mistletoemaniacs. @Soubhiville @Clwojick @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

Super late for #twofortuesday but Littens are so forgiving I figured I‘d play anyway. Thanks @TheSpineView for the tag!

1) No but I‘m close! Just letters A, K, and Q for #litsyatoz and finishing my monthly reads for #authoramonth and #foodandlit. I won‘t finish #readingasia2021 but I‘m still plugging away anyway because I love the challenge.

2) Tagged, and fortunately it goes toward 3 of my challenges!

TheSpineView You're welcome and you can play any day!👍😊🤩 3y

My December tbr (hoping to squeeze in both group reads) for #wintergames2021 #mistletoemaniacs

#Earlybirdpoints = 26

The first two books are for #authoramonth and #foodandlit and the first book is also for #litsyatoz #letterK

My December is going to be tough going since my big trial was moved from this week to December 6. 🙁 But I‘m still going to do my best because it‘s just so much fun!!

I bought this last month but during a sad time so I had laid it down and forgot about it. Although it‘s set in an imaginary country in the Himalayas, which reviews say are beautifully described in the book, I may count it for #Bhutan since the Himalayas run through that country. We will see... once I read it to see if that‘s a somewhat legit substitute. #readingasia2021

Started teaching and fell down a rabbit hole. Taking the time to get back to myself and read.
