The 5th wave is a post apocalyptical world where humans are no longer at the top of the food chain. Through the first four waves of an alien force‘s deadly attack ninety nine percent of the worlds population is gone and now Cassie has to find a way to survive. This book is told in first person but the person who‘s viewpoint it is in swaps back and forth. If I could compare this book to another book I would choose contagion by Teri Terry.

Went swimming with my son and his friend. After an hour I was done and they wanted to stay. So I downloaded this book and read it over the next 3 hours while they had fun. It was entertaining and I really enjoyed that little slice of free time to just read in peace!

4✨Another book that has been on my list forever. Cassie is our main POV, a teen in high school, before the 1st Wave in an alien attack on the planet. Her family manage to escape several of the waves until they get split up. It turns into who can you trust. There is a little romance, family ties, and working on taking their planet back. It was really good, there was real danger for the characters. It was a bit predictable. Plus lots of characters.

Well it wasn't bad but very slow at first. I almost dnf it because it was dragging but I figure I'll keep reading. It actually got good towards the end. But if Evan is dead I am going to be really mad. Time for book 2 of the series!

The 5th Wave is a chilling book set in a apocalyptic world where aliens slowly cull the human population down in waves. It was an excellent book with thrilling action and a surprising twist that leaves you thinking back on the rest of the book and how it relates. Great story telling, great mood, and great ideas would definitely recommend.

MissYaremcio Thank you for the review Angus! I was just missing the theme and how it is developed! 4/6 3y

The fifth wave is a book that happens during an apocalypse, but in a way that‘s so realistic you can‘t put it down. It didn‘t make it to my top picks because it was hard to follow the perspective it was being portrayed at a given time, but all the same it had me on the edge of my seat, waiting to what will happen next l!

Hey everyone! Sorry I took a long hiatus from litsy but I'm back now! 2 things happened:
1. I have viral fever😔
2. Didn't have time to read any new books 😔
I wanted to restart my profile with this beautiful girl in the picture. The 5th wave (movie) is good. The plot is interesting, but the story turns a bit bland during the middle. The starting and ending is good. Cant wait to read the books
Feels good to be back!

Callemarie How wild... I woke up at about 1 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep and while I was laying in bed I kept thinking "I should re-read the 5th wave series"... maybe this is a sign haha-- but in all seriousness-- the first book a bajillion times better then the movie (i did enjoy the movie though) so def read it if you haven't yet 4y
thebookishnerd @Callemarie might be lol! I will definitely read it! 4y

Klou Ģreat choice!! I think this may be my next series to read after Harry Potter. 4y
TheSpineView @Klou I loved the first book. But the other two were not as good. I enjoyed them, just not as much. 4y
Klou @TheSpineView aah okay. That's interesting. I wonder if I'll think the same. 4y

TracyReadsBooks I have to say I agree—loved the first one, the next two were just ok. If I remember correctly, he is writing more books set in this world. Of course, that announcement was years ago and I don‘t think I‘ve seen anything... 4y
TheSpineView @TracyReadsBooks Not sure I want to read more set in this world. Too many other books I want to read. 4y
TracyReadsBooks True enough. Part of me wants to see if he can redeem the third book which, much like Allegiant, went places the story didn‘t lead to organically (if that makes sense). I just haven‘t decided how big a part of me that is... 4y
TheSpineView @TracyReadsBooks A 4th would have to have great recommendations before I would be interested in reading. 4y

I absolutely love this movie so I've waited for years to read the books because I didn't want to not like the movie anymore. But the movie actually follows the book pretty well! So now I love the book AND the movie! Cannot wait to get the rest of the books to finally get a conclusion ive been waiting years for!

Independence Day meets Maze Runner, toss in a little star crossed lovers and this is what you get. The book has great character development and storyline. Cassie is one hardcore kid making sure she keeps her promises to the ones she loves. 3.75/5⭐

Ok am more than 80% in & am having mixed feelings about this book. Kind of impatient about finishing this. But it's more like "can we just get this over with?" kind of feeling rather than "ooh how does it end?" kind of eagerness. Am not sure if that makes sense but I think I am mostly having neutral lukewarm feelings about this book.

I really liked this. Even as we get to know characters, it‘s hard to tell if they are trustworthy or not – the author does a good job of that, I think. It got better in the last little bit, and I just wanted to keep turning pages. Of course, it‘s a series, so I will – at some point – be picking up the next one.

Crewgurl The rest of the series is disappointing 😔 5y
LibraryCin @Crewgurl oh no... ☹ 5y

This book really surprised me. I was expecting something so different. There were so many places the author could have gone with the story. Instead he kept it tight and focused. The characters were believable and I was totally absorbed with them. 5⭐ I already have the 2nd book on hold at the library.

Slajaunie I‘ve read the series and really enjoyed it. I hope you do as well! 💙📖 5y

I would give this book zero stars if I could. It has a predictable plot and bland characters, not to mention being full of bad alien invasion cliches and a cringy, unconvincing "romance." I only finished it so I could write a review in good faith and warn everyone not to read it. It is honestly the worst book I've ever read. I would honestly rather gouge my eyes out than read its sequel. I'm off to mourn all my lost time I spent reading this book.

Creadnorthey Felt very much the same way. 5y

The book itself is based on an interesting premise. However, the twist is beyond predictable, and i was able to put the book down for a month without picking it back up. That being said, I did enjoy it while I was reading it. Just maybe not worth all the hype it got.

I didn‘t finish this series because it didn‘t quite pull me in but the first book wasn‘t bad. I think I might have been burned out on the post-apocalyptic genre at the time.
