Drowned Girls
Drowned Girls | Loreth Anne White
He surfaced two years ago. Then he disappeared. But Detective Angie Pallorino hasn't forgotten the violent rapist who left a distinctive calling card--crosses etched into the flesh of his victim's foreheads. When a comatose Jane Doe is found in a local cemetery, sexually assaulted, mutilated, and nearly drowned, Angie is struck by the eerie similarities to her earlier unsolved rapes. Could he be back? Then the body of a drowned young woman, also bearing the marks of the serial rapist, floats up in the Gorge, and the hunt for a predator becomes a hunt for a killer. Assigned to the joint investigative task force, Angie is more than ready to prove that she has what it takes to break into the all-male homicide division. But her private life collides with her professional ambitions when she's introduced to her temporary partner, James Maddocks--a man she'd met just the night before in an intense, anonymous encounter.Together, Angie and Maddocks agree to put that night behind them. But as their search for the killer intensifies, so does their mutual desire. And Angie's forays into the mind of a monster shake loose some unsettling secrets about her own past. How can she fight for the truth when it turns out her whole life is a lie?

Low pick crime procedural and my first completed for #readyourkindle this month. This is a first of 3 so far all on #kindleunlimited and I may give the second one a go.

CW for extreme sexual violence. Also several sex scenes attempting to be explicit but fairly pedestrian.

Have to switch away from my physical book as it gets dark.

Starting this #kindleunlimited read tonight - one of my #readyourkindle choices

This book was amazing. As someone who loves crime and mystery, I found this book and intriguing read. However, I want to put an emphasis on how in depth and disturbing this book is. It could be triggering to some, so please keep at in mind when reading! So many twists and turns that led to the mind blowing ending! A highly suggested read from me! #thedrownedgirls #bookreview #fivestars #lorethannewhite #taboo #crime

Once again my start to #24in48 is not what I like, but this book was. I like a female lead, and a mystery. I will be looking into the second book to see if some loose ends get tied up. 4⭐

Book 63 of my year and I have been looking forward to this one fo a while now. I have books 64 & 65 already picked out so I can‘t wait to reach my goal for this year!

Caffeinated_Reader A must read. Intense tale of what lust can do to make someone inhuman. Definitely looking forward to the next Pallerino novel. 6y

Despite this book being really long (especially for a crime thriller- 526 pages!) I really liked it. It kept me hooked to the storyline and the characters involved.

The first book in the Angie Pallorino series set in Victoria, BC- a sex crime detective. While searching for a serial killer murdering young girls and leaving crosses on their forehead she learns about where she is from and falls in love.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nerdgirl_Ms_Sorrells I was sucked into this series awsome sauce well! It‘s a good one. 6y

I loved loved loved this book. I downloaded it through kindle unlimited but listened to it through audible. I like a story where the female lead cop is intelligent, tough, take nothing from no one and Angie Pallorino is just that woman. She is also behind the scenes a hot mess because let‘s face it, to work sex crimes, to deal with that ugliness, has to mess with your head a little bit. This story has it all, mystery/suspense/romance. It is book 1

Although I was entertained while reading this book, I can‘t include it amongst the “best murder mysteries” list in my head. 50% gruesome sex – related murders, 40% what‘s-going-on-with-the-troubled-protagonist, and 10% lust and desire. Yup, entertaining if nothing else.....and I did enjoy the Canadian setting. #murdermystery

Very disturbing when the victims are mutilated in a very disturbing way. Yet I couldn‘t put the 📚 down since I‘m very anxious to uncover the truth. Who‘s the perp? And I‘m very anxious to know what happen to Angie too. The truth start to unfold. And I‘m looking forward to book 2. No cliffhanger. #romanticsuspense #kindle #ebook #lorethannewhite

Just starting this. It sounds good, and I've read a lot of good reviews. It's a little long, but I prefer longer books. 😉

Jess7 I bought this as a kindle deal recently. I hope it's good! 7y
booklvr39 I hope so, too. I bought it as a kindle deal, also. It sounds good, and it got 4/5 stars on Goodreads and 4 and a half stars on Amazon. I actually read some of the reviews, and they were positive 7y

This looks like it's the first book in a series it has a a really interesting story line running through it. I personally felt like this book was setting the scene for us to learn about Angie and her relationships within the force and also to learn about her. An enjoyable read. This series looks very promising and hopefully won't be long till we see the next one
