A literary tsunami * that is taking the world by storm already sold in over 30 countries about one unforgettable woman s search for a meaningful life Blanca is forty years old and motherless. Shaken by the unexpected death of the most important person in her life, she suddenly realizes that she has no idea what her future will look like. To ease her dizzying grief and confusion, Blanca turns to her dearest friends, her closest family, and a change of scenery. Leaving Barcelona behind, she returns to Cadaques on the coast, accompanied by her two sons, two ex-husbands, and two best friends, and makes a plan to meet her married lover for a few stolen moments as well. Surrounded by those she loves most, she spends the summer in an impossibly beautiful place, finding ways to reconnect and understand what it means to truly, happily live on her own terms, just as her mother would have wanted. A fresh, honest, and ruefully funny story about love, sex, marriage, grief, friendship and parenthood, THIS TOO SHALL PASS is an irresistible novel that is fast becoming an international phenomenon. "A seductive voice, one that wants to take a strong bite of life." --Silvia Marimon, ARA (Spain)*"

Does anyone else about lose their minds when they‘re way too busy to find reading time? I‘m so looking forward to settling in with a book after a trip to my favorite bookstore Sunday! Picture of our baby bump since that‘s about a third of my current time consumption (work being the other two thirds)

TheReadingMermaid ❤️ the bump 1y

Usual reading blanket and usual reading buddy. I do feel like I should be reading on the beach with this book though.

A lovely read, translated from Spanish, about grief (after the death of her mother) and the family we make.

Loving this short book about a Spanish woman who invites her friends, kids and two ex's ( along with another married lover) to her recently deceased mom's home for a restful vacation weekend. What could go wrong?

kgriffith Ha, who doesn't love a good "what could go wrong?" ? 3y

I've been hopscotching through books the past couple of days. I've started each of these in the past week. It's a race to see which one I finish first.

I have been looking for books written in Spanish that were not too long (172 pages), and pretty readable for non-native speakers/readers, and this fit the bill.
¡Vale la pena leerlo!

You have to reach a certain age before it's possible to feel affection for the city you were born in, or where you spent your childhood, before you stop allowing familiarity to keep your eyes closed, or stop wanting to run away to find a new adventure every morning.

After the last few days of news, a particularly apt title. Blanca is a 40-something year old woman who has recently lost her mother and struggling. While there are some beautiful sentences, a gorgeous setting, and a good section towards the end on modern motherhood, I think it will be forgettable.

One eye on the swimming child, one eye on the new book I'm starting. After a mid-size book, I diverted from my reading plan with something a bit shorter before tackling the enormous Barkskins.

An eclectic reader 🤔

jpmcwisemorgan I can be too sometimes! I think it helps to keep the things I love the most fresh, and I like to learn so new topics and genres help me do that. 4y

Every word of this gorgeous novel is colored by grief. Milena Busquets's beautiful prose twists & turns to avoid & face grief head on. It paints a vibrant picture of the way life stops & yet still marches on after a major loss. - Ivy

Some phases in life, like losing a parent, you hope will pass. Others, like buying donuts for your children, you hope to experience forever.

"You can tell if someone really loves books by the way they look at them, how they open and close them, how they turn the pages," you used to say.
