This was a really unique and unexpected book. I did not quite know where it was headed because it was very strange but the writing was just really captivating. It blended a lot of things together about mental health and grief and language. This book was definitely odd, but it had a really important message and I really loved the characters and what it had to say about love and loss and moving forward after grief.

BittersweetBooks I read this book in high school and it has stayed with me ever since. 2y
Victoriahoperose @BittersweetBooks I don‘t think I‘ve ever heard much about this one. It was recommended to me a long time ago and I put it on my shelf and put it off forever to read it and ended up really liking it. It‘s such a unique book! Really nothing quite like it that I‘ve read before. I‘m really glad I read it! 2y

I haven‘t read this book but I have been to New Orleans! It was awesome.
On LibraryThing this booked is tagged with New Orleans so I‘m assuming it‘s at least partially set there.
My username is the same on LT. Tell me yours if you‘re on there too 😎

This was captivating: the writing, the sadness, the disgust... I enjoyed this even though it was sad and even though I found some of it hard to read concerning the dogs. 💔

I spent most of the day with my daughter who lives a couple of hours away and the grand dogs, so I didn‘t get much reading in. But now I‘m going to settle in and read for a bit. 🐶

mrozzz What a good distraction from reading! 😍 6y

It was beautifully written, Parkhurst has a way with words. You just feel with Paul and Lorelai and even Lexy just with the words used. It was very sad, engrossing and hopeful towards the end. You just feel Paul and Lorelai's sadness towards Lexy's death. Everything, from the masks to their teaching sessons, were so vivid for me.

What's the statute of limitations for returning a borrowed book? My friend lent this to me in 2003 - was thinking I'd mail it back to her telling her it took me awhile but I finally read it 😀 You'll eventually get your book back if you lend it to me

AnnieReads Naughty friend!! 8y
ReadingEnvy Ha! Sometimes we go through our CDs and find the cd my husband's roommate lent him in 1999... 8y
Suzze That's why I lend my books with no expectation of return. I never want anyone to feel they have to get it back to me. 8y

Soubhiville @Suzze I'm with you, I only loan books I don't mind not getting back. 8y
SaraFair No stutute! She probably forgot she owned it! 8y
LauraBeth @ReadingEnvy I'm still best friends with my college roommate from 25 years ago. When Prince died she came over and gave me a cd of his. I looked at it and realized it had been mine from college 😄 8y
LauraBeth @Suzze, @Soubhiville, @SaraFair I'm gonna mail it back and see what she says 😀 8y
