Im trying to get a bit of Christmas spirit this year as last year was a total failure in that respect! This little book was a good start (if you like the quieter type of detective stories like i do) Three short tales of deaths on Christmas Day and the detective or police drawn in to solve them. Simenon is a French author who wrote a series of detective novels and this was a good introduction (thanks @merelybookish for putting this on my radar!)

On a whirlwind 🌪️ trip to Kansas City so not much reading happening, but squeezed in a bit of #CloakandDaggerChristmas this morning at the hotel. I am enjoying this gritty mid-century Parissiene world.

Three excellent Christmas Noir stories, starting with a puzzle for Maigret to unravel from his living room on Christmas Eve, ending with an unusual and poignant gift for Madame Maigret.
The other two stories are set in Maigret's Paris, in which supporting characters are given the stage rather than Maigret himself.

Making myself comfortable to finish off Simenon's Maigret Christmas story. Italian coffee and sfogliatella lemon pastry, followed by a glass of calvados, as it's Maigret's favourite digestif ☕🥐🥃📖

Well, I'm not feeling in the slightest Christmassy yet, but it's 1st December, I've opened the first window on the advent calendar, burnt the first number of the advent candle, and have started my first Christmas book, which this year has to be A Maigret Christmas. I do fancy Madame Maigret bringing me the coffee and croissant breakfast her husband's not keen on, though ☕🥐😊

Book read in the 4th (and 5th) week of HP Magical Winter Readathon-prompt=read something related with "herbology" in the cover.There is a tiny thing with that prompt in that cover?These are 3 short stories where in the 1st one you see Inspector Maigret. Book has good reviews in GR but I think reviews are from fans of Inspector Maigret. I like how Simenon describes this era. In my opinion endings are too easily resolved. 3.4⭐️Still like it☺️

I am still undecided about what audio book to begin.

Although I have seen several screen Maigrets it was Rowan Atkinson who came to mind as I read this.
Perfect casting IMHO.

This was a short little mystery set at Christmas. It was good if a little rushed in places.
