Change Your Schedule, Change Your Life
Change Your Schedule, Change Your Life: How to Harness the Power of Clock Genes to Lose Weight, Optimize Your Workout, and Finally Get a Good Night's Sleep | Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar, Michelle D. Seaton
6 posts | 7 read | 12 to read
An eye-opening handbook from a leading Ayurvedic physician that blends cutting-edge science on "clock genes" with ancient eastern wisdom to help us understand how to harness the power of chronobiology to effortlessly lose weight, sleep better, exercise stronger, reduce stress, and boost our wellbeing. "Its not you, its your schedule." Does it sound like magic? Its not. Weve all heard of circadian rhythmsthose biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts when its convenient, working late into the night to maximize productivity and then trying to "catch up" on sleep during the weekend disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level. Our "clock genes" control more than we realize, and small changes can make the difference between battling our bodies, and effortlessly managing weight, sleep, stress, inflammation, and more. Marrying ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with the latest scientific research, Dr. Suhas Kshirsagars holistic step-by-step 30-day plan gives you the toolsand the scheduleyou need to transform your life. With diagnostic quizzes to determine your specific mind-body type, you will learn to adapt you schedule for effortless wellness for life.

The premise behind this book was to teach about the body‘s circadian rhythm and how it impacts each part of your day(when you sleep, when/what you eat, etc). A lot of was eye opening and made sense. I‘m just not convinced every person needs the exact same schedule - going to bed by 10:30pm and waking by 6am. However I do love the idea of being consistent and listening to your body. So those are the ideas I‘ll really take away from this

wanderinglynn I agree that not everyone needs the same schedule. But I am interested to read the book. And pretty kitty! 🧡🐱 3y
TheDaysGoBy @wanderinglynn A lot of it really was interesting/insightful! And thank you! 3y

I borrowed this book from the library, but it's so good I plan to buy a copy. It is filled with quizzes to help determine your ayurvedic type, or dosha, relating to sleep, diet, and exercise. There are recipes, herbal supplement recommendations, and a simple plan at the end to help you start the process of changing your schedule for better health. I cannot recommend this book enough. I will be applying many of the recommendations to my own life.

One more thing about this book. It encourages you to read in bed. Self Help Plan that includes turning off the TV and reading is plan I can get on board with. 🙋‍♀️

Title sounds like a late night infomercial but it's a very yogi book. All about Ayurveda, circadian rhythms and how our bodies react to late nights. I couldn't put it down once I started reading which is rare for nonfiction. Literally told everyone I meet about this book: fellow yogis, Himself, neighbor I ran into while out walking...Really is a simple as Change Your Schedule, Change Your Life 🛏⏰🚶‍♀️

alisiakae Sounds really good! 6y
julesG You look very healthy sitting in Lotus on your mat. 6y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @julesG Thank you! As a yoga teacher, I try to set a good example of healthy lifestyle and aging gracefully. But I still want to enjoy cake and whisky. Balance is a Work in Progress. This book really made the point of the importance of sleep; especially as we age. Like most readers I'm just just one more chapter'. I can really tell a difference in how I feel when I get enough sleep. 6y
julesG Wow, didn't know you are a yoga teacher. I could pester you with questions right now. 😉 Sleep is important, and although I know it, I tend to not sleep enough. I'll get this book and make regular sleep my next challenge. 6y
