Such unique characters with strong voices. A great story with plenty of surprises.
Ollie can't be near electricity and his friend (German pen pal) can't live without his pacemaker so theoretically they could never meet IRL. Through their letters they discover a past that connects them.

I'm getting the second book from the library today.
So good. 🖤
Wine time 🖤
Got up early enough to do my makeup nice for work AND have reading time. It's a good morning.
Ollie and Moritz are best friends...despite the fact that they can never meet. Ollie is allergic to electricity, while Moritz‘s life depends on his pacemaker. Meeting would kill one or both of them. Over a series of cross-Atlantic letters, Ollie and Moritz share their lives and discover more connections than they could have known. This was an intriguing read, even if the last few chapters really took a left turn. I‘ll have to check out the sequel.
Bloomsbury Publishing sent me this book and although it's not a genre I normally read, it sounds really intriguing. Plus I'm a sucker for penpal stories. Has anyone read this one yet?

I have so many feelings for this book, in the best way possible
I am currently reading this book and loving it! I found out about it from Kelly Jensen on a book Riot post about epistolary novels. I have laughed out loud so many times. Definitely pick this one up !
Ollie and Moritz are best friends, but they can never meet. Ollie is allergic to electricity. Contact with it causes seizures. Moritz‘s weak heart is kept pumping by an electronic pacemaker. Both hermits from society, the boys develop a bond through letters.
This just reminds me of my best friend Ally who I can't meet because she lives in London. But she's definitely my beacon of light in my dark times...❤️

Interesting little story. I first thought it was contemporary. After a while, I realized there were other components: sci fi maybe? Original, for sure.
Written entirely in letters between Ollie + Moritz, two friends in two parts of the world with two unusual diagnoses/characteristics. The story is: happy, sad, funny + infuriating. Requires suspension in some places. The friendship between Ollie + Moritz is great. Worth a read if you like YA 👍🏻

It's like this book is talking to me directly.
Allergic to electricity, born with no eyes- I'm in a demented scientists lab! (Cue the creepy organ music)
