This was my pick for my book club. We are meeting out in the Missouri countryside, so this book‘s setting is perfect. I enjoyed the family‘s adventures and am looking forward to discussing the book this weekend.

Missouri‘s your chance to read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, a classic I love. I haven‘t read A Good American yet, but it‘s on my TBR and I‘ve heard amazing things. I‘ve only visited St Louis 3-4x. The zoo and science center and some other museums are free there and it was a lot of fun to take the kiddos.

3.75⭐️ For the most part, it was a pretty decent book, but felt that at times it lagged a bit and felt a bit of a slog. I really liked the story of Frederick and Jette. #fiction #bookreview #bookstagram #2022 #historicalfiction #wwii #wwi #greatdepression #ebook
Finished my #doublespin for July with 10 minutes to go before midnight! 😂
Read this for one of my book clubs, and even got to chat with the author on Thursday of this week. I enjoyed the story overall, although there was a section about 2/3rds of the way through that just didn‘t feel like it fit with the rest of the narrative. It was fun to travel through the 20th century with this family!

I love the feeling when a book surprises me in a good way. This book has been sitting on my shelf for years and I never gave it a second glance. Half way finished and I'm enjoying myself and regretful that I hadn't read it sooner.

This has been on my physical #TBR for a long time. The copy that I own is a ARC I brought from a library book sale. Decided to pick up a non-proof copy from the library because I realized that I am completely out of space to store books. And I need to start reading my own.
I know nothing about this book but my fingers are crossed that I'm starting September off on the right page.

I'm visiting my hometown for a few days and was super excited to come across this at a local bookstore!
When I think of #family books, here are some that come to mind. All really good and focusing on the theme of family. (Though I will probsbly never re-read Joy Luck Club. It hit way too close to home.)

It's totally the best place to read ... and who the heck cares about dinner, for heaven's sake!
Forgive me for posting this here, but someone *might* possibly be interested in knowing that the e-book of A GOOD AMERICAN is presently on sale for $1.99 across the board at all online retailers. (Slinks away)
Got to meet the charming & talented Alex George at #Heartland16! If you loved A Good American, be on the lookout for his new one in February.
So back a few weeks ago there was love going around for A Good American and it twigged me into finding out when in the world Alex George would release another book because I just loved A Good American so much?!? February 2017 y'all!!!
This book has been on my TBR list forever. Time to check it out.
A Good American was my book group pick for July - everyone loved it. The story follows the Meisenheimers, a German immigrant family from 1904-2010. Wonderfully developed characters that I grew to care about and a nice blend of love, family, heartbreak and tragedy. Though it all music, blues and jazz, keeps the family strong and close. A well done debut that will stick with me for a long while. The audio version is excellent.
"The heavens were filled with a million dazzling celestial bodies, each one casually brushing up to infinity."
"Each note…sang was a small starburst of beauty, too perfect for the world into which it emerged."
