3/5 ⭐️ the story ended up being a little different than I expected, but still had a couple moments where I teared up!
Completed from my TBR Bookshelf.
🩵 I've already read so many great books this year, but Now in November by Josephine Winslow Johnson is one that I still think about.
🩵 I haven't had to DNF a book yet! I did pause Somewhere Beyond the Sea because I've had trouble concentrating on audiobooks, but that was a me problem.

WOW! What a book. The language is beautifully evocative. It's reflective and thoughtful. It's heartbreakingly human. I am saddened that it isn't a better-known book. I still have more research to do, but I saw a blog that suggested that Johnson "faded" into obscurity because of the inherent politics in her writing. The book does seem that it was ahead of its time, so I can see that being a factor. Plus, she was a woman.
Read this book.
My bookspin for March, a Canadian #Canlit children's classic from the 1980s. Hope to start later today!
I'm trying hard to read multiple books a month this year and hopefully I'll be able to follow through so I can complete a book bracket. It will be a small amount of books to pick from a month but still fun none the less. West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge was my favourite read in January. I will never forget the characters from this book.
Note: Not my template - off pintrest.

So I was a little annoyed that this book was more about two people working at a newspaper than about children being sold out of desperation in the 1930s. But after a bit I became so immersed in the story that it didn't matter anymore.
