I‘m into chapter 5 and I can already tell I‘ll be thinking about these characters long after I finish this one. â¤ï¸

This was a really emotional book about immigration. It is such a timely story and so well written. I highly recommend it.
Oooohhhhh...... Sunday afternoon on the couch with new books!
Listened on #audiobook. Enjoyed this raw story of the Falcon family, immigrants from Peru trying to make it in NYC.
I‘m pretending I don‘t have a million trillion unfinished books on my bedside table right now and I‘m picking this one up to start instead of diving back into the others.
Whew! This story kept me on toes and then broke my heart... A beautifully written story.
A family of immigrants in New York in the 1990s deal with issues of money and work and housing.
This book is devastatingly beautiful. It is a hard read but for those who can handle it, it is worth the pain. This is Rivero's debut novel and I look forward to following her writing career. I expect this book will be included in 2019's book awards and I hope it does very well.
Looking forward to this story of a Peruvian family who emigrate to NYC in the 1990s and the challenges they face. #immigrantsong

A powerful book about the choices we make and a look into the hardships of being an undocumented immigrant in America. This book is depressing but well-written with great character development.

Do you think I went overboard on my book buying this weekend? 🤔
1. Tagged for NetGalley (I‘m so far behind) and Melmoth
2. My parents are coming for the weekend to celebrate Easter so no reading time for me.
3. No!
4. Lana or Winston. If we are talking fantasy, then Lauranthalas

Fleeing violence in Peru in the 1990s, Ana and her family live as undocumented migrants in NYC. Every day in her life is a struggle. Financial struggles occupy most of Ana‘s life, but there is also the struggle to come to terms with her mother and father‘s deaths and learn to trust anyone but herself. This is not a feel-good story, but it does highlight the determination and hope of some immigrant families. Great writing/dialogue. 3.5âï¸ #hoopla

Happy Saturday! No picture of my book nest this weekend, as I am sick in bed, but I wanted to share my current read and what I hope to read. Books about the Celtics in the 20th century are in my wheelhouse! Like, seriously, if I was chasing you and you threw a book about the Celtics at me, I would have to stop and read it. ALL YOUR CELTICS BOOKS ARE BELONG TO US. 😂 What are you reading this weekend? What subjects are in your wheelhouse?📚â¤ï¸ðŸ“š
It‘s so hard to find time to read when your schedule is full. I‘ve been taking a little time in the early mornings to get a chapter or two in. When do YOU read?
