When I saw the prompt #paris, this movie came to mind. I‘ve loved the scenery and the plot twist at the end was kinda clever. Overall, a movie ebbed in my mind. #julyjourneys @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
21 #15 This book had it‘s moments in spite of the fact that I didn‘t find any of characters particularly likable or well developed. Worse still, there were times that it read like a bad romance novel. All in all I‘d have to say...meh.
A novel about three women in Paris during the Nazis occupation. Coco Chanel, Arletty, Goebels and many other fictional and non-fictional characters meet at the famous Ritz Hotel...
I liked it because it is a literary representation of Paris, even though it is not a literary masterpiece.
Paris, 1940. The Nazis have occupied the city—and the Ritz. The opulent old hotel, so loved by Parisians, is now full of swaggering officers, their minions and their mistresses.

I really enjoyed this book. It gives a real insight into the Ritz in Paris during the Second World War and of the huge disparity between its inhabitants and the rest of Paris. The character Olivia is brought alive and I felt that I desperately wanted her to be ok.

Set in Paris during World War 2, it follows three female characters - Olivia Olsen, Coco Chanel and Arletty (Léonie Bathiat). I loved the mix of fictional and real characters. The authors note at the end really completed the story for me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this book about Paris in the occupation. Mostly centered on the French and US resistance and collaborators. Some historical facts which were quite interesting too.
Definitely recommend it .
