I was SUPER disappointed with this one and almost bailed a couple of times. These characters were oddly flat but obnoxious at the same time. Had the potential to be a decent read but for me failed. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Oh no! At least it's off the list!! 2y
KristiAhlers @TheAromaofBooks truth! I had such high hopes for this one too. Oh well. Such is life 2y

This one left me with mixed feelings. While I found the writing style engrossing and the setting atmospheric and lending to a witchy and spooky vibe, the characters were distractingly unlikeable. There were some parts that I absolutely loved and others that I simply skimmed through. Would not recommend as a read but would definitely watch as a cheesy Halloween movie. ⭐️⭐️ My May #doublespin #bookspin 📚 @TheAromaofBooks

This book had a lot of elements that I normally love, which might be the problem. I have read this story before, and the other versions were better. This was not a horrible reading experience, but something felt missing. I usually find myself liking some of the most “unlikable” characters, but couldn‘t connect to any of these girls.

Pickpick

This one scratched so many itches for me and felt like the perfect mix of magic and reality. I know the style didn‘t work for everyone, but I think it definitely falls into the same camp as Black Chalk, or Secret History, or Special Topics in Calamity Physics... which you either dig or you don‘t.

70 pages in and I can‘t do anymore. Too YA and not very good writing! Don‘t like anyone or interested in anyone.
Lent to me by one of my team who thought I‘d love it....now what to say!

Cathythoughts Oh dear ! Sounds not so good 5y
FantasyChick I gave up on this one too. The story intrigued me but I just couldn't get into it 5y

Lizpixie Bummer! I have this one on my #TBR but this may bump it down the list.🤨 5y
TrishB @Lizpixie you may get into it 🤷‍♀️ 5y
Reggie Yikes it has a 14% rating. Just be straight up with them. I have to do this at work when people are all hey we think you might like this book. Just because it‘s a book doesn‘t always mean it‘s for you. 5y
TrishB @Reggie very true! Otherwise they‘re going to give me more of the same! 5y

Today‘s #bookmail at work.

One is a slip cover advertising that that The Other Mrs. is going to be on Netflix.

The furies looks right up my alley. Witches, boarding a schools, murder. Yes please.

I really don‘t know why, but I thought this would be a mix of a murder mystery like Gone Girl meets a witch story like The Craft; it‘s not. The story was good, but just wasn‘t what I was expecting.

This one is available as “Read Now” on Netgalley for the next 72-ish hours.
“The Furies is a haunting tale of angry, young women, the fates they hold and furies they possess. Katie Lowe steers her juggernaut through twists of madness, revenge and murder to a finish that resonates deeply. It still hasn‘t left me.” —Peter Filardi, screenwriter of The Craft
