For fans of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Thomas Harris...picture this: a landscape of American genocide...5 D A Y S A G O...A rash of bizarre murders swept the country...Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. 4 D A Y S A G O...The murders increased ten-fold...3 D A Y S A G O...The President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace...2 D A Y S A G O...The killers began to mobilize...Y E S T E R D A Y...All the power went out...T O N I G H T...They're reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System. You are listening over the battery-powered radio on your kitchen table, and they've just read yours. Your name is Jack Colclough. You have a wife, a daughter, and a young son. You live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. People are coming to your house to kill you and your family. You don't know why, but you don't have time to think about that any more. You only have time to....R U N.

After reading this propulsive page-turner, I‘m now ready for the upcoming apocalypse.

I noticed this book became available on Libby and placed a hold on this auto-read author for me. I was 3/4 of the way through before realizing this was published in 2011. I thought it was a fun action-packed dystopian story. There were some lulls in the plot and that only made me appreciate the evolution of his writing. …And now I don‘t feel so bad about my inability to see the aurora lights so many Americans were able to witness this summer 🤣

Blake Crouch really knows how to write a pulse pounding edge of your seat thriller.

This is my second book by Crouch and it certainly won‘t be the last. This one literally takes off from the very beginning and didn‘t let up until the last page.

I love that I can be so easily transported into the story.

I definitely look forward to more of his novels. Thank you so much to the publisher for a copy via NetGalley!

I have yet to read a Blake Crouch novel that I don't like. Like his other novels, Run is well written and shows great insight into the human condition and human behavior. I described Run to my husband as "Kind of like The Walking Dead, but without the dead." Run focuses on what a family has to do to survive when (living) humans are the thing to be feared.

Run by Blake Crouch - A Five-Star Review
This book grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go until the very end. Blake Crouch does an incredible job of weaving a suspenseful and terrifying tale of survival in a world gone mad. The premise is simple but chilling: a celestial event, the “Great Auroral Storm...

Everything you want in a post apocalyptic thriller. People are the only monsters that scare me. This feels a lot like Cormac McCarthy‘s The Road. It is Blake Crouch‘s debut novel, so it was missing a bit of finesse. The ending felt a little blunt, but I understand where he was going with it. I loved it anyway.

ChaoticMissAdventures Oh I just read this one last month! It was so filled with anxiety!! Great book for October. 3mo
BoleyBooks @ChaoticMissAdventures -Yes, tension was definitely high! It was like mixing The Road- Cormac Mc Carthy and Cell- Stephen King. I agree…tis the season for chills and thrills. 🎃 3mo

This book is terrifying. Something has turned people against each other, “the affected” are murdering their friends, family and anyone they see. Dee, Jack and their two kids are on the run from New Mexico to Canada to see if there is freedom from the affected. How far do you go and what are you willing to do when you are running for your life? I read this in one sitting.

It looks like they are releasing this Blake Crouch from 2011. I am a fair weather Crouch fan. I will pick up his books but feel a bit middle of the road about him. This is my 4th book of his. I enjoy them while I read them, I was happy to keep picking this up but looking deeper at it, the characters are not well drawn (the main character is a philosophy prof, but no philosophy is talked about and you get no feelings of teacher from him) 👇

ChaoticMissAdventures The book overall is incredibly violent, it has heavy Mad Max vibes. But the reasoning is very sketchy, as many of the characters motives are also. I am marking this as a light pick - 3.5✨. I read through it and kept picking it up but I don't think I would recommend it to many. 4mo

Surprisingly unputdownable story of a family fleeing horror and searching for a safe haven.

(Non)zombie survival story. It didn't add anything to the genre.

Not the best book I‘ve ever read but definitely not the worst. This was another recommendation from @Reviewsbylola she liked it but I honestly thought all of the characters except Jack were just unlikable and the whole story just felt phoned in.

A suspected virus has turned a large number of citizens into bloodthirsty, ruthless killers. Dee and Jack flee their home in terror with their two kids in tow, but nowhere seems safe.

This is my 6th Crouch and possibly my favorite. As per usual, I couldn‘t put this down. It‘s very graphic and depressing at times, so not for everyone.

Dee Colclough first appeared on page 7 and for the entire rest of the book I wanted to bitch slap her. What an annoying character. Despite Dee's presence, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This was a quick read for me but kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen to the family and why everyone was going crazy.
