This has the feel of being 16 again, in the midst of those never-ending summers. I miss it, but you also couldn‘t pay me to go back. It is a reminder of all those times when you were still figuring out what you wanted, what mattered to you, and what you had outgrown.

lazydaizee I was 16 in 1976, and that was a hot summer , it felt like it was never going to end. 8mo

This is like the New Moon of this series—the super sad, fraught, emo part of the story and honestly, I was here for it. Again, Lola Tung‘s narration is fantastic and adds so much to the story.

Second read through. Last time I sped through it in a day or so and this time the same. I think I picked up more from it the second time through though. Enjoyed it more. The wondering of what‘s next wasn‘t as distracting this time. One of those sweet easy reads you can pick up again every few summers or so.

Easily the worst book in the series. It was just not fun or even that summery which was obviously a choice but the draw of this series is the summer chill vibes. Hate hate hate the ending

I am team Conrad through and through. However, I gotta say… if belly loves Conrad so much how tf is she gonna turn around and be making out with his brother like that? Completely absurd. I honestly hate it. But I love these books lol.

This book fuelled my cheesy romance novel obsession. It was so cute and just made my day to read. It‘s a quick read so sadly it didn‘t last very long but it was so worth it.

Loved it. I read the first one in this series over a weekend. The second one in a day. Its a sweet and romantic novel across many relationships not just a typical live story. The themes while not parallel to my own life asserted some ideas and questions I have about life and relationships.

The second book in Jenny Han‘s The Summer I Turned Pretty series, and it was very sad. It felt like a transitional book that will set up the third in the series and didn‘t have a strong plot on its own besides Belly still being unsure of her purpose without the summer house and Beck‘s boys. I‘ll still read the third, but this series overall isn‘t as strong as To All the Boys I‘ve Loved Before.

August recap in book reviews:

This one was a bit of a heartbreaker, especially with the situation of Susanna.
I really felt bad for the boys but Belly…ah Belly. She‘s one big personality. I stick by what I said earlier. She‘s the most insecure and selfish character I‘ve ever encountered.

second book of the trilogy definitely keeps up with the first in terms of romance and drama, maybe even a little more so. adding jeremiah‘s pov this book really adds a certain depth and by the end i was indeed team jeremiah. i think susannah‘s death was a little underwhelming but the written grief is smart and well executed. and belly is still annoying just wanna put that out there. the cliffhanger is lowkey everything too.

The second summer book in the Trilogy and Han has done it again. My heart is a whirlwind of feeling like I‘m 17. Many teary eyed moments and a great story that deals with grief. Excited to start the third and final books. I haven‘t read these since I was in HS, now I remember why I loved them so much.

Raw grief and emotion are not often so vivid in YA due to the loss of Joanna. Second in the trilogy picks up right where the first ends, the only difference is it has a double POV from Jeremiah as well as Belly.

If you are looking for a teen romance novel filled with unexpected drama and a love triangle that will have your jaw drop, this is the book for you! It‘s Not Summer Without You, is the second book in the trilogy crafted by author Jenny Han that is a continuation of the story of three childhood friends: Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad.

FinleyLothian The book weaves through their ever-changing relationships and feelings which will certainly keep you entertained the whole time.

Cousins Beach was Belly‘s favourite place until tragedy struck and everything that could have gone wrong in her life did. This unexpected turn of events results in the exploration of how loss affects friendships, and the resilience of Belly as she overcomes deep emotions of sadness and mourning.
4y
FinleyLothian While the beach seemed to be a distant memory buried with the good times associated with the sacred place that once brought her joy, it began to provide comfort for everyone in different ways. The phone call that changed everything and set the wheels in motion brought the three friends together again to face their fears, insecurities and futures. 4y
FinleyLothian The reunion became a flashback on how things used to be for the main character Belly, and to make things worse she becomes confused about her love interest forcing her to discover where her heart truly lies. Yet unbeknownst to everyone, the decisions that are made at Cousins Beach will have long-lasting effects beyond just their friendship.

FinleyLothian The motif that is present in the book that caught my attention is the flashbacks that we continually see of Belly‘s past. It gives us this deep understanding of how her feelings and experiences have shaped the way she is at each point in the book. She shows her insecurities and soft spots through past traumatic or important events that have occurred in her life. 4y
FinleyLothian It also explains the relationships she has with other characters and how these relationships affected her character development throughout this novel. 4y
MissYaremcio Very nicely done Finley! You go quite into depth and it sounds like an excellent read! 6/6 4y

Well written. It builds on the first one. You get a little of jeremiahs point of view as well. Great book.

Loved the second book! I enjoyed it less than the first one because this one had kind of this sad and nostalgic hint to it. Belly's summer was completely different and everything had changed but it was still very good and well written! I was so happy to see that we were able to read Jeremiah's POV and got to see how he was truly feeling. I picked up the next one seconds after putting this one down! Let's now dive into the 5th book of quarantine!

Jenny Han needs to cool it with the cliffhangers! I loved this book as much as the first. It‘s hard to say anything without spoilers, so I‘ll just say that I can‘t wait to finish up the Belly trilogy.
