Copper River: A Novel | William Kent Krueger
Pickpick

A novel that has lots of Indigenous lore sprinkled throughout it. The characters are mostly good people with a number of villains added to flesh out the story. The setting is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you are a fan of William Kent Krueger and his novels, this is one you won‘t want to miss. 4.5/5

And another one I started and couldn‘t put down. Cork O‘Conner is a fantastic character & what really makes this series work. The lore interwoven into the stories, the mysteries, which have consistently high stakes for the perpetrator, victim(s), & community, are equally important. And Krueger also has a really talent for making you care about the new characters introduced in each installment. Needless to say, I‘ll be reading more in this series!

Quite a bit different than the others in the series so far. I like how the characters are developing. I enjoyed the broadening of the storyline and connection to new characters. I feel like this one diverted from the norm and the next book will return to similar themes…but time will tell.

Another Cork O'Connor mystery...really two mysteries at the end. With one being the main problem Cork finds in Bodine and then we solve the mystery at the end of the previous books.

I love this series and recommend it for any mystery lovers!

Book 6 of the Cork O‘Connor mysteries was hard to put down, so I kept reading. Cork (Corcoran) is half Irish and half Anishinaabe, more specifically Ojibwe. His very wealthy nemesis in Chicago has dark people hunting for Cork to the tune of $millions as reward. Meanwhile Cork has murders to solve in northern Minnesota…

I have a hard time finding audio books that capture my attention. The Cork O'Connar series by William Kent Kruger is an exception. This is the six book in the series and I have listened to them all on audio.
Small town sheriff, interesting cast of characters and mysteries that keep me guessing. The environment and Anishanabe culture also feature heavily in the books. I highly recommend if you enjoy police procedurals/small town mysteries.

Finished Copper River on my walk and started Thunder Bay. Despite Cork not being as front and center as he usually is, I still liked this book. Cork is in Michigan with his cousin‘s family and a character from the last book, Dina, is also there. The mystery comes about when Cork‘s cousin‘s son, Ren, and his friends, see a dead body in the river. The way society treats homeless children is a central theme here. #audiowalk

Another heart racing installment in the Cork O‘Connor series. This time Cork is on the run in Michigan when he stumbles on a whole other mystery to solve. Loved the pace of this one and the slightly different setting.
