The Summer We Read Gatsby
The Summer We Read Gatsby: A Novel | Danielle Ganek
12 posts | 21 read | 13 to read
When two estranged sisters inherit a Hamptons beach house, they search for fortune but find love instead. Cassie and Peck are half sisters with little in common beyond a shared last name--that is, until their beloved aunt Lydia bequeaths them equal shares of her ramshackle old cottage in the Hamptons with instructions to "seek the thing of utmost value" within it. Cassie and Peck fantasize about discovering a lost Jackson Pollock, or a first edition of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, as they revel in one last summer of fabulous parties and nostalgia. From the author of Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him, Danielle Ganek's The Summer We Read Gatsby, a perfect beach read, captures the spirit of New York's most glamorous resort town, and will captivate readers with its spellbinding blend of romance, mystery, and charmingly eccentric characters.

6-18-22: My 60th finished book of 2022! Lovely story about half sisters who inherit their aunt‘s house in the Hamptons. The will states they must sell and also find the thing of utmost value. While they search for it they encounter men from their pasts, a “fool” artist in residence, Jackson Pollack, The Great Gatsby and parties galore. Comical, romantic, nostalgic and moving. I enjoyed this one immensely. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣6️⃣0️⃣

#MarvellousMay book 1/6

So my in-laws have almost no reading material in their house except for exactly one issue of Real Simple. I think I must be the only one who reads it because a few times I‘ve picked it up thinking it‘s new only to find out it‘s from 2010. Anyway at Easter I got as far as the book reviews and saved this book in Scribd before I realized it was a 12 year old magazine. And then I started listening and realized I‘d read this.⬇️

Bookwormjillk Most likely I had started it after reading that very same review. Last time I bailed but this time I stuck it out. I‘m glad I did because after a rough start I enjoyed this story of half sisters who inherited a house in the Hamptons. 3y

#booked2018

Blame it on Litsy- Sometimes I Lie
Diverse Non Fiction- The Girl Who Smiled Beads
LGBTQ+MC- Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda
Japanese Thriller- Confessions
Beach Read- The Summer We Read Gatsby

These are the titles I've read for the 3rd quarter. I have 100 pages and until midnight to squeeze in my last title. Will I make it? I have tons of time for some end of summer beach reading today.

Cinfhen You can do it!!!! 6y
mrp27 @Cinfhen Thanks for your vote of confidence! 6y
Cinfhen I also have u marked as reading your #setoutdoors during this quarter!! I didn‘t note the book...do u recall??? 6y
Cinfhen It still counts even if u don‘t remember the title 😜😜 6y
mrp27 Yes! I didn't finish my set in the outdoors book in time last quarter but I did finish it this quarter. The book was A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson. 6y

#booked2018 #beachread

⭐️ Took me nearly all summer to finish this one but I finally did! Two sisters inherit their eccentric aunts house in the Hamptons and they must decide what to do with it. Tons of fashion talk, cupcake eating and party going to have any depth even with all the Gatsby references. The only thing enjoyable about this is I read it on the beach.

BookNAround That‘s so disappointing! 6y
Cinfhen Sorry it was a dud 😔 6y

"You are the sole author of the story of your life, my dear. Make it a good one." ❤️

This one is on my #SummerReads list. I figured it was appropriate to wait for summer to stay with the theme.

The fact that you found a book about reading Gatsby amazes me. Thank you for all your wonderful effort into gift giving @WanderingBookaneer #WinterSolsticeBookExchange #SecretSantaGoesPostal

ValerieAndBooks Added to the stack! I read the synopsis! A couple years back our local used bookstore ended up selling a 1st edition of The Great Gatsby for $64,000! 8y
Matchkim Wowza! 8y
WanderingBookaneer I read it a while ago and thought it went with the theme. In fact, I think either @gibblr or @BookishMarginalia placed it in my hands. #serendipity 8y
BookishMarginalia It's a fun read! @WanderingBookaneer I think @gibblr agreed! (edited) 8y
