I didn't expect this book. I picked it up b/c of the cover. 😍 I don't remember reading the description. I had a vague recollection it was about a girl, a bobcat, nature. It's that + so much more. A girl reeling from trauma, trying to pick up the pieces, encounters a bobcat & a hiker w/his own secrets & her whole life changes. It's a story about healing, connection, love, 2nd chances. And the prose, oh! Delicate, trembling w/life, vibrating color.

I'm kicking off my weekend a little early! How was everyone's week? I've been a bit of a homebody, though we did book a vacation to Hawaii next month! 🌴 I also wrote a couple thousand words for a new book project but today find myself very distracted, my brain flighty so I'm clocking out early. Hoping that a long weekend snuggling with books will help me refocus. What are you all up to?

Laurelie is an art student more comfortable on her own, and even more so after experiencing a sexual assault. She relocates to finish college and encounters a hiker who is even more connected to the natural world than she is.

Healing through nature, finding a voice in art, the power of connection.... And just enough strangeness to keep me guessing. I'm still thinking about the end.

This is a special book. There is so much packed into 160 pages that it still has my head spinning. What a beautiful prose and message.

Almost halfway through this short, debut novel. The writing is INSANE.
