Mayhem at the Orient Express

At a local Chinese restaurant, it's the owner who gets taken out... Most folks arent forced by court order to attend a library-book discussion group, but thats just what happens to B and B proprietor and ex-Manhattanite Bea Cartwright, hippy cat lover Chandra Morrisey, and winery owner Kate Wilder after a small-town magistrate has had enough of their squabbling. South Bass, an island on Lake Erie, is home to an idyllic summer resort, but these three ladies keep disturbing the peace. The initial book choice is Agatha Christies Murder on the Orient Express, and that sets their mouths to watering. The Orient Express is the islands newest Chinese restaurant. They might not agree about much, but the ladies all love the orange chicken on the menu. But their meal is spoiled when the restaurants owner, Peter Chan, has the bad fortune of getting murdered. Now, with Christie as their inspiration, the League of Literary Ladies has a real mystery to solveif they can somehow catch a killer without killing each other first.

I love snarky main characters, and Bea definitely fits that profile! When Bea and her neighbors are forced by the local judge to join a book club at the library, they have no idea they will come together to solve a murder. A crazy snowstorm and a bunch of suspects - it kind of goes along with their book club book Murder on the Orient Express. I‘ll definitely continue this series - fun read, and I‘d love to see how the ladies solve their next case.

Day 12 #20series20days #top20series

This is a cozy mystery series about a group of women in a book club who happen upon several bodies. These are fun and quick reads with a nod to the classics (the titles all refer to a classic novel).

Andrew65 Looks good fun. 4y

I caught the cold going around the library staff so haven't been doing much reading. I decided to pull this cozy off #mountTBR and give it a try. It's just okay so far but I'm only a few chapters in so I'm still hopeful. #ilovecozies

neet_reads I grabbed the 2nd book, A Tale of Two Biddies, off the library shelves last week and found it just okay too 6y

Opting for something a little less emotionally taxing this AM. #litsypartyofone #ilovecozies

melissanorr This is on my TBR. I'd like to hear what you think when you're done. 7y
quietjenn @melissanorr it was pretty solid. Not the best ever, but certainly better than many I've read. I'll look for others in the series. 7y
