3 posts | 7 read | 5 to read
Gripping! Margaret Atwood via Twitter (@MargaretAtwood) In the vein of Gillian Flynns Sharp Objects and A.S.A. Harrisons The Silent Wife, The Devil You Know is a thrilling debut about a rookie reporter, whose memories of the murder of her childhood best friend bring dangerand a stalkerright to her doorstep. The year is 1993. Rookie crime beat reporter Evie Jones is haunted by the unsolved murder of her best friend Lianne Gagnon who was killed in 1982, back when both girls were eleven. The suspected killer, a repeat offender named Robert Cameron, was never arrested, leaving Liannes case cold. Now twenty-one and living alone for the first time, Evie is obsessively drawn to finding out what really happened to Lianne. She leans on another childhood friend, David Patton, for helpbut every clue they uncover seems to lead to an unimaginable conclusion. As she gets closer and closer to the truth, Evie becomes convinced that the killer is still at largeand that hes coming back for her. From critically acclaimed author Elisabeth de Mariaffi comes an exceptional bookfull of surprises (Suspense Magazine) about secrets long buried and obsession that cannot be controlled.

Ok...I read a few pages, and that's about all I will continue with. Sucks.

I can‘t even. The author doesn‘t use quotation marks and the main character is an idiot. She suspects someone as being a child killer and then breaks into his house, rooting around to find evidence. Not once, but twice. 👎🏻

My audio would have to be stepped up to make a thriller or suspense movie. I could see it being an after school special. It's a good book but lacking in intensity. #springcleaningreadathon @Tiffness83

melbeautyandbooks An after school special- Love it! 7y
julesG My current read has good chances of becoming a film and I dare say it would certainly be a good one, given the right actors. 7y
BeckyK @JoeStalksBeck An alien which replaces a mathematicians body after killing him to prevent news spreading of him solving an unsolvable maths equation, which will allow advances in technology and life which the aliens don't think humans are ready for. He then has to find out if he told anyone but tells of the world from an outsiders perspective which makes for very funny reading. Heart warming too :) 7y
