I needed the joy that this #reread brings. The whole trading places concept is so fun, and I love the calamities at the end before Lissa and Cormac finally meet! #contemporaryfiction #womensfiction

To #GoTheExtraMile means to do more than is expected or is needed; to make a greater effort than needed.
I thought about this book in my Kindle TBR which then got The Proclaimers “500 Miles” song in my head. Walking 500 miles & then 500 more seems like going the (very) extra mile! 😉
“But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door”
Starting off the month with something light. Trying to get back on track...I love Jenny Colgan‘s book on audio. 🎧

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐A hug in a book. Yet another delightful read from Jenny Colgan. Lissa and Cormac "lifeswap" into each other's homes and workplaces after events cause them to require a "change of scenery". They start sharing case notes to help them each manage their patients better. A heartwarming read which had me very caught up in their lives, with some lump in the throat and happy tears moments. An absolute gem of a book to read.
My kind of romantic evening... my handsome man, cuddling a cat, reading his book and letting me read mine
I wanted to like this one so much, and although there were some few moments of “oh ok this is nice”, most of this book was pure cliche and low key prejudice. I don‘t mind a story being predictable, or even unoriginal, but this was cringe. Life‘s too short #2021

Finished tagged and first book on the #NarniaReadalong and actually managed to stick to my reading plan for the week. Should finish Owen Meany this week.
Tagged is another charming story of the small Scottish town of some of Colgan‘s other tales. Nurses Lissa and Cormack swap jobs for 3 months, giving both of them a needed change of scenery.
I‘m a big Jenny Colgan fan! This is the third one in the Scottish Bookshop series, but I think each book can stand independently. I will be reading the second one next.
Jenny Colgan hasn't disappointed me yet. Her characters are real, with real problems, but she gives them real solutions too. Plus she offers the fantasy of getting away from the rat race and living a more charming life. This is exactly the kind of fantasy my fevered brain appreciates right now.
A romance novel where the main characters don‘t meet for a long time- they fall in love in letters and notes and calls. I didn‘t really feel their connection but I liked them both and wanted good things.
I read this book in a day and it was everything I wanted it to be! I got to hang out with some familiar characters, meet some new ones and travel vicariously to London and Scotland. ( back at the beginning of May we ordered a swim spa, a big hot tub with a current for swimming, Covid in the US is hijacking acrylic and pumps/ventilators so I‘m turning the cement pad into my Fancy pool site because there‘s no end in sight for delivery )
Picked up my holds from the library yesterday, promptly started this. Perfect, light, escapist, laugh out loud, happy reading set in Kirrinfief, with some old friends ( in previous books) and London, with new ones.
Always love books from Jenny Colgan and this one didn't disappoint. As others have mentioned, I would have liked a bit more story after Lissa & Cormac meet, but maybe they'll be mentioned in another book in this series? Definitely enjoyed catching up with some of the characters from her previous 2 books in this series. 😀
In 500 Miles From You, Colgan creates a diverse cast of characters with interesting histories and weaves a heartfelt tale of overcoming trauma and finding connections where you least expect them.
While I did enjoy this book, the romance was rather blah. There was so much build up to the two main characters meeting and when they finally do, that meeting is glossed over and rushed through. It was very unsatisfying.
Full review on my blog!
WOW book 3 doesn't disappoint. Lissa and Cormac won me over from the start with their email exchanging and relative cluelessness about their swapped environments. Really enjoyed this one.
August Book 1/20 #LitsyLove
⭐️⭐️⭐️This is a sweet story about two nurses, one in the Scottish Highlands & one in central London, who trade places & workloads for 3 months. There were many funny moments of culture shock between rural & urban environments and cultures, and some great characters. The pacing didn‘t feel like it was dragging until the end, which is what knocked it down a bit for me. If you want an easy read with lovely scenery, this is a nice summer time pick.
This was a fair read. Heavy emotionally at times but still a good read for say the beach or as a way to stay indoors and stay cool.
I think I'm in a bit of a mood tonight, but can't tell for sure. Which probably means I totally am! Let's see if this helps.
I received an advanced copy of Jenny Colgan‘s new novel! I have to get right to it. Her novels always give me a great pick-me-up. I am excited to read about two of my dream destinations-
I've read numerous Jenny Colgan books but this is my fave. A traumatized nurse from London is exiled to Scotland in an exchange with NPL, Cormac. Both find their new digs challenging and find solace in idle texting about their patients-one is a young girl, a very special young heart transplant. Former characters Nina and Zoe (Bookshop on the Corner) befriend Lissa in her struggle in Scotland. Comes out in June!

Things I got delivered this week: a Goodreads win (tagged), The Givenchy Code series for a comfort re-read, and a new work laptop because yesterday Amelia spilled a cup of coffee on my old one and it‘s toast. Amazon cat food delivery not pictured. Thank goodness for UPS!!
Lissa is a nurse in London who's witnessed a terrible crime. Cormac is a nurse in a small village in the Scottish highlands who could use more action in his life. When they swap places for 3 months, each finds what they need, and through communicating about their patients, they might just also find WHO they need. A pleasant, unchallenging, slow and steady-paced read that may be a bookish balm for anyone feeling super stressed right now.
