I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. Laurens does an amazing job exploring the complexities of friendship, and the importance of found families. She also creates an interesting world of magic, and witchcraft that doesn‘t overwhelm her readers.

Desai does a wonderful job weaving an engrossing tale full of unique characters. Layla and Sam are very relatable characters that readers can easily connect with.

I really enjoyed how Desai balanced Layla‘s family dynamics and expectations with her desire to be independent. I feel like often books have one or the other, so it was nice to see it established here already and for it not to be a plot point.

In 500 Miles From You, Colgan creates a diverse cast of characters with interesting histories and weaves a heartfelt tale of overcoming trauma and finding connections where you least expect them.

While I did enjoy this book, the romance was rather blah. There was so much build up to the two main characters meeting and when they finally do, that meeting is glossed over and rushed through. It was very unsatisfying.

Boyfriend Material is a fun, enemies to lovers, fake dating romance that is impossible to put down.

I was constantly amazed to see my own experiences with depression and anxiety mirrored in Luc and even at times with Oliver. Seeing Luc struggle with keeping his apartment clean, or watching Oliver have to defend his career and life choices to his family, was very relatable.

I was SO excited for this book and while it was good, it was also disappointing. This could have easily been 2 or 3 books but so much was glossed over that I really couldn‘t enjoy the story and connect with the characters. I will definitely read the next one but I‘m sad this one fell so short for me.

A wonderful f/f romance, but not swoon worthy. The two main characters and their circumstance are interesting but there‘s no tension between them like I‘d expect in a romance. I had next to no emotional reaction to what was happening unlike the other romance‘s which gave me a ton of emotions.

But I think this book helps to fill a gap in books in general, not just the romance genre. f/f romance/relationships are still hard to come by even in 2020.

In this Contemporary YA Queer Romance Desombre explores a variety of topics from friendship, and first love, too dating, and coming out. It seems like a lot but Desombre dives deep allowing her readers to meaningfully connect with her characters, and their stories. Equal parts lighthearted and thoughtful Desombre weaves an enchanting tale perfect for summer reading. I Think I Love You is a must read for romance lovers!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. Ann Rule did a wonderful job covering the hunt for the Green River Killer and all of the facets that entailed.

She also did a great job honoring the victims and telling their stories. So often it feels like true crime focuses on the criminal but Rule spends most of her time focusing on the victims, on their lives, their hopes and dreams, and the people they were taken from.

In this collection Roupenian explores the darker, inner dialogues we all have with ourselves, whether we want to admit to them or not. Exploring relationships between families, friends, lovers, strangers, Roupenian shows her readers that they are not alone in their darkest thoughts or imagined scenarios. Not every story will resinate with every reader, but this collection has something for everyone within its pages.

This is by far, the best audiobook I have ever listened too. The cast is phenomenal. The sound work is amazing. If you are looking for a great audiobook experience this is it. Even if you're already read Illuminae, you NEED to listen to these audiobooks!

It's not often I read a book devoid of quotation marks. But it was a really effective story telling choice and it really added a lot of atmosphere to the book. It made it seem much more real to me and I don't think I would have related to this book in quite the same way had they been used.

For me the best, and worst, thing about this book is the ending. The ending was so unsatisfying and so perfect and I can't imagine it ending any other way.

Cute, fun, smart, heartbreaking and joyful. This book is one of the best Jane Austen retellings I have ever read!

Dev paints a vivid picture of life and love within these pages making it impossible to put down. Her characters are deep, interesting, multifaceted and real. I loved following Ashna and Rico, watching their story develop and unfold with each turn of a page.

Perfect for romance lovers and Jane Austen fans!

This was such a fun, heartwarming book. It is well paced, engaging and impossible to put down. I loved the LGBTQAI+ and Neurodiverse representation of Albert's characters. Both were so thoughtful and so well done. Albert is attentive, caring and insightful with her characters and their story and will leave her readers full of joy after the finish the last page.

As a Bi-Sexual person I'm always looking for books with positive queer representation and I had high hopes for this book and in the end I was very uncomfortable with it's queer representation. The characters come across as very flat and not well developed. I think this book had the potential to be really insightful but instead it dismissed or trivialized many of the experiences queer youth go through in high school and even beyond into adult life.

Started this one on audio recently and I‘m enjoying it so far! I‘m interested to see how it ends since there are more books in the series (which I don‘t think was the original plan? idk)

Started this one a few days ago and loving it so far! I like following different groups of characters through the story and I‘m excited to see it all come together!

This was a very quick read and definitely one to pick up over and over again. It‘s more of a page a day kind of book where you reflect on what each page says. Happy I read it and I hope I can make myself pick it up and read a few pages here and there. If you‘re looking for a motivational book however this is not it.

Loved this! Took me a while to follow the time jumps and parts felt rushed but over all I really enjoyed this and would recommend for people who like science fiction, time travel and thrillers!

Honestly I hardly ever DNF books but I just can‘t with this one. The first book was problematic enough and it just got worse with this one. These characters have the most unhealthy relationship possible and I just can‘t bring myself to continue reading it.

Next book club pick!

Made good progress on this last weekend when I spent ~14 hours in a car driving. Really enjoy the story. Some of the characters really bother me with who they talk about women but I can‘t decide if it‘s the characters I don‘t like or the writing...less than 6 hours left to finish this one but it‘s due back to the library soon so I better get on it.

I‘m so far behind on this for book club 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am enjoying it but it‘s hard to pick up for some reason. I think I just need to be able to sit down a read for several hours.

I really enjoyed this one but I would recommend that if you read this edition from 2009 you skip “The Final Chapter-2008” and come back to it once you‘ve read the rest of the book. This chapter is an update from Ann in 2008 but they put it as the first chapter which I think is really odd. Reading it first made me really uncomfortable with how Rule talks about Bundy and it almost ruined the book for me reading it first. So save it till the end.

Already behind in reading this for book club. Hopefully I can catch up today though!

I loved this book so much. I did not see the ending coming at all. The pacing was excellent. The plot was amazing. The character development was superb. I need Darkdawn and I need it NOW.

About 400 pages in and still very interesting. It‘s hard reading this picture of Bundy though. Rule doesn‘t downplay his crimes or make them seem less horrible but the picture she does present is very human and it‘s hard to reconcile the monster and the man. I can‘t imagine how hard this book must of been for her to write.

It‘s really interesting reading this book in 2019, with all of the Ted Bundy shows that have come out recently. And also living in Seattle and going to UW. I hope that connection is the closes I ever get to go serial killer. But I‘m enjoying this book so far and am excited to keep reading. I‘m about 120 pages in and it‘s nearly 550

This book was very interesting to read and I really enjoyed learning more about this unit in the FBI. It was really fun comparing it to the Netflix show and now I‘m even more hyped for season 2! I also immediately went and ordered Douglas‘ second book and can‘t wait to start that one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A retelling of Vlad the impaler?! Loved this series! Lada is a strong, fierce girl who does what she wants and takes no shit from anyone. This book and the series as a whole has great representation and the plot is very well paced. You get to dive deep into different cultures and you can tell the author did her research! Would recommend this whole series to anyone who loves history, retellings, strong female characters and diversity. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

While not my favorite series from Marie Lu I still thoroughly enjoyed this series, especially this book. The plot kept me guessing and I found something in each character I could relate to. I don‘t think this book is for everyone but if you like revenge, magic and strong female characters I‘d highly recommend this book!

Loved this one! Marie imagines a reality that could one day be very real for us and set the stakes high for saving the world. I‘m not a gamer but even though this book focuses around a world-wide (fictional) game phenomena it was still easy to follow what was happening as the characters played. Very well written! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had such high hopes for this book and it wasn‘t what I expected at all. Very disappointing plot. The characters were interesting for the most part but some felt very flat and 2 dimensional. And honestly it wasn‘t sad or painful enough. ⭐️⭐️

This book was so cute! I loved following Cassidy and Jacob as they explored Edinburgh and made new friends. V did an amazing job bring the history of Edinburgh to life and had just the right amount of pop culture references. It‘s a quick read and prefect for all ages! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was not what I was expecting and I loved it! In this book artist Artemisia Gentileschi tells her story, of becoming a painter before and after her rape. It‘s told in verse form and it‘s beautiful. Artemisia‘s voice rings loud and clear in this novelization of her life and as an art historian I can confidently say that McCullough got her facts right. Add this to your #tbr list right now if it‘s not already on there. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really enjoying this so far. The advise is really well backed up and this finally gave me the push to try Headspace which I‘d been on the fence about. This book doesn‘t talk about that app but it spends a good amount of time on meditation and mindfulness so it seemed apt to try a mindfulness app.

I‘ve never read books like these before and I‘m so glad V wrote them and her publisher published them. Plus we‘re going to get a third book! Ugh I can‘t wait but V has so many projects going it‘ll probably be 4-5 years before we get it. But it‘ll be worth the wait! Seriously—go read these right now!

I love this whole series but especially A Study in Charlotte. Charlotte and Jamie make a great team and they deal with real world problems like drug addiction and sexual assault. It‘s not all about solving the mystery but also solving problems teens face everyday. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I listened to this on audio and loved it. I was a bit hesitant about listening to it because of the footnotes but they‘re narrated seamlessly into the book and add greatly to the story!
