Daisy and Simon's marriage isn't what it seems... After years together, the arrival of longed-for daughter Millie sealed everything in place. They're a happy little family of three. So what if Simon drinks a bit too much sometimes--Daisy's used to it. She knows he's just letting off steam. Until one night at a party things spiral horribly out of control. And their happy little family of three will never be the same again. In Lies, Lies, Lies, Sunday Times bestselling author Adele Parks explores the darkest corners of a relationship in free fall in a mesmerizing tale of marriage and secrets.

I continue to try and clear my TBR piles! It‘s ages since I have read an Adele Parks and I recognised and enjoyed her easy way of writing about adult friendships and relationships and frailties. The thriller side of it felt a little more forced and there was a stretch or two along the way that were tough to swallow (and a ton of trigger warnings also) but it was an easy engaging read

Watching The Haunting of Hill House - a personal favorite - and so many of the characters are telling lies not only to everyone else but to themselves. Perfect for Day 24‘s #scarathlondailyprompts ! #scarathlon2022 #teamslaughter

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Lots of twists and turn woven through all those lies.

It was not predictable and had twists but characters were unlikable and storytelling was boring. It is readable, but there is too much of physical, emotional, animal, and alcohol abuse. I am not a fan of this dark domestic drama...

Panpan

It took me forever to read this book because I just wasn‘t feeling the first half of it at all, and then I was interested for like 5 chapters, and then I wasn‘t again lol. Not one likable character and then she really sealed the ‘pan‘ towards the end with animal abuse so I couldn‘t even read most of it. 🤮

I bailed on this one. I couldn't get past the 34% mark. Thanks Netgalley for keeping my request on pending status. Saved me from eternal boredom. 😅

Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks is a great domestic thriller! The story is based on family drama that causes unexpected consequences. Thank you NetGalley and MIRA/Harlequin for this ARC. Full review: https://justreadingjess.wordpress.com/2020/09/17/lies-lies-lies/

I fluctuated between a pick and a so-so for this one. I loved the concept and the two narratives and points of view were interesting but much of the book was a bit slow. Until it got to the next big twist and ultimately it was those surprises which lifted it to a pick for me. Daisy and Simon were mostly relatable characters which gave a believability to the story, mistakes were made and lies told which all got out of hand. A solid story.

Do we really know who‘s lying? Do the characters really know what is the truth and what isn‘t?

I have mixed feelings about this book. There were moments where I was completely engrossed, moments when I was bored and close to giving up on it, and moments when I was sickened by it. And then the ending – completely implausible.

You know when you like a book but can‘t really explain why? Well, that‘s this book. All of the characters were obnoxious and the storylines were rather unpleasant and far-fetched but I still couldn‘t put it down.

Perhaps it was good for a bit of escapism, just what I needed right now.

This was a book with a really clever twisty concept and I did enjoy reading it, but I felt like the ending was rushed and that kind of spoiled it for me. That said, I like a book that makes me wonder what I would do if I was in a character‘s shoes. I‘d read another from her to see if it was different

Wow talk about twists, this book is full of them and they're so good. The story is told through Daisy's perspective and then Simon's. The plot builds slowly and to start with it was a little too slow but then it picked up and suddenly I was desperate to keep reading. The story is clever and deals with some real and scary issues. The ending was not what I expected but it's actually perfect for the book and how I wanted it to end.
