A Touch of Stone and Snow
A Touch of Stone and Snow | Milla Vane
13 posts | 9 read | 6 to read
Milla Vane returns to her exhilarating A Gathering of Dragons series, into a world of fire, demons, and passion in the midst of a great evil that will bring only death and destruction. Danger lurks in the western realms. Though an evil king has been defeated, a sorcerer warlord has risen and nobody is safe. This demon-possessed warlord creates magical terrors, attacking nations with the ultimate goal to weaken and demolish them before the Destroyer's imminent return. When Lizzan leads the Kothan army against these terrors, only to see her soldiers massacred and to emerge as the only survivor, she is called a coward. A disgrace. A failure. Shunned from her home, Lizzan now wanders in solitude through the lands as a mercenary for hire, until she encounters a group of warriors seeking new alliances with the northern kingdoms--a group that includes Aerax, the bastard prince of Koth, and the man who sent her into exile. Though they were former childhood friends, Aerax cannot trust the woman whose failure led to the fall of a kingdom. But when a goddess's demand binds them together, Lizzan and Aerax must find a way to overcome their painful pasts. Or there will be no future for the western realms...

I thought the world building was excellent. Politics, badguys and gods. Actual though not theoretical. The spice was a little more than I prefer. Also I think writing spice is tricky because it can take you out of the moment. For example there was a spicy scene in water that I'm pretty sure would have been physically impossible without someone drowning. This was #2 in a series. (I'd not read #1.) I liked the leads though which is why I finished.

I was thinking 'this book is not as metal as the last one' and then a guy ripped out his own arm bone to stab the big bad with.

Just found out this series is going to only be a trilogy?? A real bummer! I was excited about some of the quests put forth in book 1, and was hoping for books about characters I'm seeing in this book. Boo!

This series is only 2 books and a novella and I love it so much. A fantasy romance series,it has a lot going on with so many countries/geographical areas, connected characters and storylines and page turning nonstop action. It‘s a beautiful mix of magic, romance, good vs evil and redemption.

In this book an outcast soldier and a feral prince must overcome the past to save their country, as the Destroyer returns and an alliance forms to fight him.

JamieArc I really enjoyed the first in this series 2y

A bit slow to start but at 25% in, the story took off. It was a colorful mix of magic, warriors, myth and forever love. Great fun! #joyousjanuary #readathon @Andrew65 #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks #Pantone2022 #NorthernDroplet @Clwojick #Booked2022 @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved this one more than the first book! I am a sucker for a second chance romance and Milla Vane delivers! Cannot wait to see how the overarching storyline continues. #romance #secondchanceromance #fantasy #vikings

My local movie theater is doing curbside giant bags of popcorn today and tomorrow. So I was absolutely there at 4pm when they started to get my popcorn. About to do some reading with a popcorn treat. 😁🍿
