pickThis poem just make me so happy. This whole collection just made me so happy. Simultaneously I felt like the older sister talking to my younger sister, but also that I was reading prompts from an older sister I never had. What stood out in this book over her others was the amount of soft art

So excited for this. If not just because I actually CAN go on a book tour, then because I loved her Princess will save herself collection. (Next 2 were fair) A lot of her poems are hit or miss for me, as she talks about subjects I have been blessed enough not to have been affected by. But that doesn‘t change the fact that she does an amazing job easing the feeling of what is going on in the world. How to take command of your own life yourself
pick5/5 for this great book of poetry! I have enjoyed all that I have read by this author but this is my favorite by far. This book of poetry empowers women and reminds us to not give up. The message from each exert is that women are Magic and not to be underestimated. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel publishing for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've tried really hard to like Amanda Lovelace. I see her appeal, its all very sweet and motivational and pretty and in my teens, I would have liked it. Had I seen individual quotes on Tumblr, I would have probably given them a heart and then shared them. Do I think this needed to be turned into a book? Absolutely not.
pickI have rarely felt so seen as I am by AL‘s work. And this collection, centering finding power in yourself as well as the bonds between sisters, is no exception.
These pieces are short, surgical strikes of discarding the stories that people write for you. And instead, a call to action of finding your own voice, creating your own crown.
And as the eldest of 3 sisters, each piece titled “big sister says” felt pulled from my own past. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
Oof. I don‘t know what it is about poetry in general, but every so often a poem is just a sucker punch of the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known.

This one was a big surprise bc I didnt know she had a new one coming out. And just like Lovelace's other books, I absolutely LOVED it! It is all about the reasoning that a princess doesnt need a prince. Love the messages coming from this one.
