Reading (existing) in the mountains is my favorite 😍
Another soft pick. This one had the right ingredients but somehow just didn't quite jive for me. The writing was weirdly wooden and scenes that should have felt suspenseful and engaging just... didn't. I liked the characters and the concept was great, but for me the writing kept getting in the way of the story.

This was a good palate cleanser of a book for me. I‘ll continue reading the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My #LMPBC book is coming your way @Jerdencon with delivery estimate of next Monday (4/1). Please forgive the awful wrapping/taping! 😩😆 Wish I had made a better choice for this round. I had high hopes, but it ended up farcical and too over-the-top for me. 2.25/5⭐️
This is exactly what you expect—a fun, fast-paced read without much depth, the kind of book perfect for a flight or an afternoon by the pool but one which will not linger long after you put it down. Still, a pick because it has lost treasure, mysterious cults, feuding exes, mayhem, and in the end, it was entertaining. First in a new series from Evanovich.

This story was humorous but, really, it was Stephanie Plum on an adventure. The story was not a turn off, so I will read the next adventure 😁.
I‘ve never read Janet Vanovich; the number of Stephanie Plum novels (28) were a bigger hill than I wanted to climb. When I saw this first in a new series, I thought I‘d give it a try. Like popcorn, it was enjoyable, but not very filling. Gabriella Rose makes her living largely stealing back expensive stuff for clients. Here, helped by kindly drug lords and her ex-husband, she‘s up against bad guy who keeps disappearing in a puff of green smoke.
Next up. Hopefully this will be something fresh and not Stephanie Plum: Treasure Hunter. I like the SP books, but it would be nice to read something new from Evanovich.
78/150 This is a pick, but it is a very soft pick. I wanted more Lara Croft, less 90s rom-com adventure. I wanted puzzles to solve, mysteries to unravel, it all seemed too easy for Gabriela and Rafer to find the treasure and beat the bad guys. I have nothing against sexual innuendo or witty banter, but I needed some good action scenes to balance it out. 3.25/5
4th book for #BigJuneReadathon @Clwojick
I really enjoyed this book. I‘ve read some of her Stephanie Plum books and this gave me that lighthearted funny vibe that those books do. I can‘t wait to read more in the series!
That might have been the dumbest “mystery” I‘ve ever read. I‘ve never read this author - I know she‘s written a wide breadth - but this heroine was immature, terrible at her job, completely unempathetic, and utterly reckless. Also was this meant to be funny? Because most of the ancillary characters came off more stereotypical & racist. Wouldn‘t recco.
It‘s no Stephanie plum novel but I‘ll give it a try.
A fun adventure a la Indiana Jones. It‘s a great book for a pallet cleanser.

There are probably things I should be doing today, but I just don‘t feel like it. I‘m tired and I‘d rather sit here and read my book, so here I am…. Oh, and Scout says hi!
This is a new set of characters and I assume a new series for Evanovich. The adventure story is fun, but there‘s only one fully fleshed out female character (who still has to be rescued, twice), too much of the ends justifying the means, and too much “guns are normal and good to have” in this for me to fully enjoy it. My mom loved it, though.
I had high hopes for this but bailed at 50%. Despite there being treasure hunt adventures, I was bored. It was just this happened, then this happened. No fun banter, no ridiculous humor, just ZZZZ.

A slow week last week but I‘m hoping to start April off with some good reads.
The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich is a brand new series that have you standing up and cheering! If you love Stephanie Plum, you're going to adore Gabriella Rose! Gabriella is almost the exact opposite of Stephanie. Stephanie always gets the job done but not without bumbling her way through and needing rescuing. Gabriella is the one who's going to be doing the rescuing! This girl has it all going on. Brains and beauty,...(cont in comments)
4 stars.
I enjoyed this one much more than I have been the latest Stephanie Plum books.
A bit different than the classic Evanovich - the plot is a bit more serious with plotlines that included drug running, violence, and cults. That said there were multiple times I laughed out loud and some great one-lines. There is a good balance of serious and funny moments, with a good match of bickering ex-spouses (I do wish there had been more banter) but the plot did feel slow at times. A great summer read. I do want to read more of this series
This morning I ran a 5K to benefit the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, who I‘ve been involved with since I lost my daddy and big brother in 2010 to colon cancer. They were such a help when my daddy was still in his fight. After having a day of hanging out with the hubs after that, I‘m digging into the first book of a new series.
The Recovery Agent was a spectacular story and a sensational debut for this series.

Got my paws on this one before it‘s even covered and ready for the shelf. 😏 It‘s already so much fun; nothing earth-shatteringly new, but a standard Evanovich romp with colorful characters, and the perfect antidote to a dreary af day! #therecoveryagent #gabrielarose #janetevanovich
