i dont think im planning to read the sequels because when i say i *STRUGGLED* to get through. i might've continued the series if joan wasn't so annoying but nope cant do it. really liked nick's backstory, though!!

YA fantasy which was entertaining but with common elements in the story. Joan has power which she doesn‘t know until a situation happens. She is important to save her people. But in this novel, they can travel in time. There is YA romance🙄cheesy at the beginning. I will continue with the trilogy because I have the gorgeous sequel from FairyLoot edition😍To be honest, should be so-so but it was entertaining, I need it when I read it 2.8/3⭐️
A surprise pick for me. The first 50 pages were slow, but then the plot really took off. The word “monsters” is a bit deceiving in this book, but the story was good enough that I didn‘t care.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Currently booking through this one at 3x speed in order to finish it before book club. I will finish just in time to leave.
It‘s really good so far and wish I could spend more time on it, but I‘m a spoilerphobe so I must finish.
A different take on time travelling, there are monsters living among us. They take humans time by touching the base of their necks to travel through time.
I dislike the main character at first, she is whinny and over the top. Fortunately I keep on reading and the story picks up pretty fast after several chapters, and oh my totally unexpected.
This is not like your regular YA book, and it is a good beginning for a series.
3.9 ⭐
I loved so many things in this book: characters were awesome, they had backstories and that made me feel for them. Some secondary characters could have had several scenes with main characters, that would have fleshed out things a bit more.
I loved the atmosphere!! All this darkness, massacres, thrilling scenes, heists and a hint of love are my thing. Loved it so much!
This was unbelievable intriguing book and so unique!
This was part of my Christmas present from my boyfriend. My very first Owlcrate and I love it.
I really enjoyed this one. The hero vs monsters concept was unique (it reminded me of a vampire vs slayer story), I loved the time traveling and it had great pacing. I just found the ending to be a bit of a let down. Considering how fast paced the rest of the novel was I expected more. That said I loved this world and will definitely be reading the sequel because I still have so many unanswered questions.
I wish this book was a series, because I wanted the adventure to extend beyond the scope of one novel. As a self-contained story, it works well… but leaves me wanting more development in the plot and in the characters. The final lines made me roll my eyes hard for how cliché they were - but, apart from that and a slightly shaky beginning, the book was great. I really just wanted more of it to flesh things out! The audiobook narration was good.
Yay!! Finished my #BookSpin book! It was an interesting premise but not sure that I‘m a fan. I believe there are supposed to be two more books, so I‘ll read the next one to see where it it‘s going.
This book had me shook. The way it made you hope for one outcome just to throw in a different... it was crazy. Definitely recommend.
I enjoyed this book. It was more of an adventure book than a romance. This book is about a journey that Joan takes with her cousin and one other to learn about her other half that lies dormant within her.
Picked up this #librarybook on a whim, and I‘m already halfway through it. I‘m loving everything about this book so far—even the love triangle it presents. I‘m rooting for Aaron and Joan to hook up ‘cuz who doesn‘t love enemies to lovers?? And, the way I see it she‘s burned bridges from that other guy…
3.25 stars
This was an okay book. It dragged at parts for sure. And I didn't care for the ending. I'm not sure where the second book will go.
16 year old Joan realizes her family has a secret. They are monsters! She has little time to adjust to this knowledge before a hero comes for them & destroys her life as she knows it. Joan, her friends & unlikely allies try to save themselves, save their families & do the impossible…
Time travel ⏱ 🧳
Rival monster families 👹
A love story (or two) 💕
It meandered a bit in the middle but overall I enjoyed, & found it to be a unique concept.
Just starting this, one of the voices the reader does reminds me of Inventing Anna 😂
I‘m feeling meh about this one. Not brilliant and not the worst ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. This is a new author so that might be why it read a little disjointed at times. As if she didn‘t have the whole plot plotted out and at times plotted as she wrote if that makes sense. #readingchallenge2022
A new week calls for a new YA Book to kick it all off!!!
What are the chances that my library has a book that was just officially released yesterday??? Super excited to say the least (-;
This YA story about a girl who is a monster & a boy who is a hero is just as simple & complex as the premise suggests. Len has created an interesting world which more than makes up for characters that are readily recognizable. This debut very much reads like a debut but I definitely want to know more. I‘m not sure if this is a fantasy that will stand out from the crowd but I did enjoy it and suspect young readers will as well. On sale 2/22/22.
