Well written mystery in the Tita Rosie‘s Kitchen series. The director of the local scholarship pageant has been murdered! Love the characters, and the included recipes, and the dialogue—

Great addition to this cozy mystery series. I really enjoy learning about the Filipino culture and food.
Out of the pan and into the fire, Lila is still suffering PTSD from the last series of murders and being attacked, when Detective Park asks her to keep her eyes and ears open during the beauty pageant she is judging. Letters threatening the pageant are now in the police‘s hands. When her cousin Bernadette is suspected of murdering the host, Lila begins sleuthing. Can‘t wait to read the next one.
Easy, entertaining audiobook that was a good accompaniment to working on a jigsaw puzzle yesterday and today.
Just finished listening to this cozy mystery- the second in a new series. The mystery revolves around a Teen beauty pageant- and our intrepid amateur sleuth manages to entice the reader with her wonderful food descriptions. I‘m so hungry right now🤣. Fun book a bit darker than the first book. 👍👍💚🐉
After enjoying the first book two, I enjoyed book 2 just as much. The writing just feels down to earth and a cozy mystery is always fun, easy read. I also want to eat all the food mentioned!
This is the second book in the series and every bit as fun to read as the first. Lila has been asked to be a judge for the local beauty pageant. But there‘s been a murder and she‘s sucked into it. It‘s that kind of cozy mystery which doesn‘t stress the reader too much and you know it will all turn out ok in the end. Just be prepared to be hungry as Lila experiments with delicious desserts for their upcoming cafe.
I wanted to like this book as much as the first one but the themes were very redundant: love triangle, fights with her best friend, and conflict with her cousin. I appreciated the honest descriptions about therapy and dealing with past traumas. The plot was okay but I was able to figure out the murderer about half way through the book. For these reasons, I have to give the book: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)
Book #2 in this cozy mystery series. I enjoyed book one more but that is pretty typical for me. I have issues with series. Book 3 due out this fall. After barely surviving an attempt on her life in the last book Lila is trying to get her life back on track. As a former winner she is asked to judge a pageant where someone is murdering those connected to it. I didn't figure it out but the mc got on my nerves in this one. 3 🌟
Unfortunately, I thought the 2nd book in the Tita Rosie‘s Kitchen series was a bit lackluster. I did like that the author delved into mental health and PTSD, but the writing felt stilted and the story moved pretty slowly. I‘ll still give the 3rd book a try because I love the characters!
#HelloKitty hasn‘t left my side this week. She misses #Isabel too. #catsofLitsy😿🫶🏼

Spent about a week not really picking up a book to read, but picked this back up today and finished it. I enjoyed this book as much as the first book. The author has a way of writing about heavy topics without making the book feel heavy. It is a cozy mystery so there were lots of fun moments, heartfelt moments, and amazing sounding food.
I requested this book from the library before my library had it. I'm the very first person to check this book out of the library and don't understand why nobody else has requested it. The first book in the series was one of my favorite books last year, so I'm really looking forward to starting this.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoy the cultural and culinary side of this cozy series, but this mystery wasn‘t super compelling and I wasn‘t really into the pageant plot line. There was some character growth and I appreciated the way mental health was handled. Although I didn‘t like this as much as the first, I might still give the third a try when it‘s released later this year. It‘s set at Christmastime, and I always like a few festive reads around the holidays!
I have a tendency to pic up colorful books, and this one spoke to me, since I'm half Filipino. I'm surprise that this is becoming a quick read, and I', enjoying it thus far. I love the characters, and the setting. And, I have a feeling my mom would be part of the “momtestants“ adding to the tsismis. I should probably also add I haven't red the first book. #mystery
Enjoying the second book in this cozy series!
Loved this so much! Book 2 was just as fun as book 1; same zany characters, interesting plot line, and some nice character growth. Can‘t wait for book 3!
