I love Sophie Kinsella! So much fun reading her books, and I get so caught up in them, that I find any excuse to read, and stay up way past my bedtime to get a few chapters in. This one made me a little teary with all the intricacies that families have, as I can relate, and who doesn‘t love a happy ending? 💗

Chilled day of week off love my little laptop table #metime wine in my cup thing Book want to finish 4 chapter left till finished. The book marks on bottom pages I mark the chapters seems to keep me focussed. With paper clips at point book i at divide that by pages of the actual book then by how many days in the week want to and gives me so many pages a day to read so at least then I can get to at least one marker either way. Get through better

Split book into pages per night to finish in a week on days can so works out to 28 pages a day for paper clips or if tired my magnetic book marks are markers per chapter then makes me get to at least one marker :)

Maria514626 I love this method! I‘m going to try for my book club book. Thanks! 2y
Bookworm04 @Maria514626 :) it worked for me I got through lot better. Not as daunting. Let me know how you get on if dont mind?the magnetic pack of 30 bookmarks got off Amazon they ok but only hold a page so hence why did them as chapter markers. Then the paper clips on side page for marker of how many pages per day all did as idea was 415 pages - 175 (point at) divid by how many days u want to read it. Mine 415-175=240left divid by 5 days = 48 per day 2y
Bookworm04 I only read couple hours after my Mcds shift or whenever can fit it in sometimes I do pages per day goal sometimes I only manage a chapter not really fussed if don‘t stick to it but does keep me focussed 2y
Maria514626 @Bookworm04 Update! I‘m reading a chunkster for book club. Splitting the book into sections is helping a ton. I feel like I‘m making progress. And, I‘ll have the book read by the time we meet. 👍 Thanks again for the idea! (edited) 2y

Effie has fallen out with her father and his glamorous younger girlfriend. When her dad sells her childhood home, the girlfriend decides to throw a house cooling party (which I didn‘t know was a thing) but doesn‘t invite Effie. Effie is fine with that, but decides to crash in order to retrieve a treasured item left there by accident. But the night doesn‘t go down as planned! Many LOL moments!

#pop22 - book featuring a party

LiteraryinLawrence Whoa, what is a house cooling party? That‘s new to me too. 2y
OriginalCyn620 @LiteraryinLawrence Well, it‘s the opposite of a housewarming party. You celebrate moving out of a house. It‘s a chance to say goodbye to your old place before moving on somewhere new. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I kinda get it but I also don‘t. 2y

Recent Sophie Kinsellas have been a little hit or miss for me, but this one was good. Like a lot of lighter fiction, this could‘ve probably been finished in chapter one if people would talk to each other, but what‘s the fun in that? I liked the premise of the MC not going to the last party at her family home but then ended up being there in secret. This was a fast read, and I may not remember much of it, but it was fun.

4.5⭐️ I don‘t know what it was about this book, but once I got into the book, I really couldn‘t put it down. I suppose a lot of it had to do with the fact that it was just a fun read and didn‘t require a lot of thought. Sometimes a girl just needs a bit of brain candy. #2022 #fiction #contemporary #bookreview #bookstagram

Another delightful read from Sophie Kinsella. Just what I needed after reading some darker books this month. I loved her portrayal of a disfunctional yet loving family and all the good times/ bad times that everyone endures with the ones they love. A party crasher crashing her own family party and the shenanigans that ensued had me laughing out loud. A hug in a book with a perfect blend of amusing and poignant moments. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

CarolynM I'm keeping this one for holiday reading in a couple of weeks time. Looking forward to it even more after your review 🙂 2y

I'm a huge Sophie Kinsella fan,but have felt very let down by her last few books, particularly the quite execrable 'Love your life'.This book is a triumphant return to form.Charming, moving, funny and nuanced characters, the treatment of one in particular being absolutely stellar.5/5 stars, and even more.Read this immediately!!

I‘ve enjoyed Kinsella‘s novels for years and her latest one (hitting the shelves 10/12/2021) is no exception! It revolves around a family saying goodbye to their childhood home amongst their own dramas. Narrator Effie is the youngest and taking the changes the hardest. She becomes the titular crashed at the house-cooling party- learning more about her family, friends and herself in the process! Funny and fun to read, I loved every minute!

CarolynM I'm a Sophie Kinsella fan too. Stacking this one🙂 3y

This was very typical Kinsella and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She writes delightful stories that always have a Happy Ever After, it is just a bit of a mess (in a good way) to get there. If you are looking for a lighter read, that will make you laugh, run and pick this up, you will not be disappointed.

kimmypete1 Was it better than Surprise Me? Her most recent books haven‘t been as great for me and I ended up DNF‘ing that one. 3y
Lauren.Archer @kimmypete1 I liked this one better. More comical but still had a story line that was endearing. 3y

If you can get past all of the over-the-top situations Effie gets herself into, this is a wonderful book. I loved it! Effie‘s family imploded 2 years ago with her “perfect” parents‘ divorce, her father‘s new younger girlfriend and her beloved home going up for sale. In her efforts to say goodbye to her home, she finds herself in some HILARIOUS and preposterous predicaments. This story is about learning to let go, making peace with change 🔻

robinb and that family is most important. Each family member has their own issues to deal with, but they learn to lean on each other for help. There‘s also a sweet second-chance love story that I enjoyed. Just an overall wonderful book. Recommended. 5/5⭐️ 3y

If you lived the Shopaholic series, you‘ll love this. Unfortunately, I don‘t. This book fell in the annoys me category, Which is a shame because, except for our heroine Effie, I liked everyone else. She was quite selfish thinking only about her feelings. And she had a tendency to jump to conclusions a lot. The story, minus her craziness, was quite heartfelt and entertaining. I did enjoy the comical moments though!
