Medieval legends of the history of Britain re-told and in some cases re-created from allusions elsewhere by Amy Jeffs, who after each story explains sources and connections with other tales and also her experience of some of the places the stories happened.

Some of the stories were completely new to me, some were vaguely familiar, and some were immediately recognisable. Sure to be enjoyed by anyone interested in folklore, myth, and legend.

#BookHaul from various York bookshops. I was pleased to get the Goreys from The Little Apple. We visited an exhibition about the Star Carr Mesolithic settlement and I got relevant books from the museum shop.
"A Book of Verse" from Minster Gate books is a publishing history of Fitzgerald's Khayyám. Also from there, Blackwood's "The Willows & Other Queer Stories", & "A Literary & Historical Atlas of North & South America", a cartographic gem ??

A collection of lyrical retellings of British myths with gorgeous woodcut prints.

This was a fascinating collection! Some where ones that I knew, mostly the Arthurian ones. But there were a lot that were new to me! Very much had the feel that they needed to be recited around a roaring fire.

A few of them were also accompanied by Jeffs‘s personal recollections of her visits to the locations of some myths. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
