Charlotte Holmes's brilliant mind and deductive skills are pulled into a dangerous investigation at sea in the new mystery in the bestselling Lady Sherlock series. After feigning her own death in Cornwall to escape from Moriarty's perilous attention, Charlotte Holmes goes into hiding. But then she receives a tempting offer: Find a dossier the crown is desperately seeking, and she might be able to go back to a normal life. Her search leads her aboard the RMS Provence. But on the night Charlotte makes her move to retrieve the dossier, in the midst of a terrifying storm in the Bay of Biscay, a brutal murder takes place on the ship. Instead of solving the crime, as she is accustomed to doing, Charlotte must take care not to be embroiled in this investigation, lest it become known to those who harbor ill intentions that Sherlock Holmes is abroad and still very much alive.

This closed door mystery on a ship was more interesting than I expected and while it dragged a bit in the middle, it was a really good read once everything was set in place.
Charolette must figure out who killed a passenger before they get within reach of land while completing an assignment that is supposed to help create a layer of protection for her to return to her life.
3.5/5 stars read for the mystery and the series

I enjoy these Lady Sherlock mysteries but this one had a confusing cast of characters and the jumping back and forth in time was also a bit confusing. However, because I‘ve been on the go a lot, it could have been me not the book due to reading a few pages at a time. 3.75 🌟

I usually read the Lady Sherlock books as soon as they come out, but I didn‘t get around to this one for a few months. As usual, Thomas does a great job of managing all the mysteries while maintaining friendships & romance. This is a “locked room” mystery on a ship. Moriarty is in the background but not the main plot. Still my favorite series.

Charlotte is forced into hiding, but if she retrieves a dossier for the Crown she may be able to return to her life. The inquiry leads her to an undercover journey on the RMS Provence. On a stormy night at sea, a wealthy man is killed. The ensuing investigation could expose Charlotte to Moriarty if she and Ash don‘t intervene and solve the case. Ash and Livia had all the feels as foils for Charlotte. It was odd, but I still love C. Holmes. 4⭐️fun.

7th in the Lady Sherlock series • 4 Stars

Charlotte Holmes, a brilliant detective who poses as the assistant of her fictional brother Sherlock, is on a mission to find a missing dossier that could expose her secrets and endanger her life. She boards the RMS Provence, a luxury steamer sailing from England to Asia, where the dossier is hidden among Moriarty‘s agents. But her plans are disrupted when a storm hits the ship and a murder takes place.

I adore this series (Lady Sherlock) - the most clever series for the question, “what if Sherlock Holmes was a woman?” I love the complexity of the characters, the emotional journeys they go on, and the very real suspense they find themselves in. The relational changes have been slow which feels realistic. This book is better than the last in it‘s subject, imho. Overall, it‘s suspenseful, tricky, surprising, and well-written.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I was so happy to be back in the world of Charlotte Holmes. This is the 7th Lady Sherlock book. The usual cast of characters are aboard a ship where a murder occurs. A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me.

Disguised as an old widow, Charlotte Holmes joins a cruise. Obviously, one of the rich passengers is murdered and most of the other passengers have a motive.

Charlotte can't openly investigate. Fortunately, her lover Lord Ashby is aboard and willing to play secretary to the inspector.

This read more like a Poirot novel as a Charlotte/Sherlock Holmes story.

After being disappointed in the previous book in this series, I was pleased to see it has returned to form. The setting on a ship was fun, and I liked the roles Charlotte and the other main characters played in the story. This is one of my favorite mystery series and this was a strong installment in it. The narrator of the audiobooks continues to be great and the cover is gorgeous as usual.

Lynnsoprano I need to get back to this series. I‘m a couple books behind. 13mo
MallenNC @Lynnsoprano I have liked all of them except the one before this. Nothing seemed to happen after the first chapter. 13mo
