Adult #FairyLoot signed Special Edition. Digitally sprayed edges all around. Different artwork on the end papers. Foil on the front cover and spine. This also came with an art card with a girl who‘s similar to the girl in the couple in the end papers. This is an anticipated read for 2023!!

Paranormal/mythological Urban Fantasy #Romance in Jazz Age Shanghai?

MC reads like a spoilt teenager. Not even her childhood trauma can or should excuse her behaviour. Levity by adding flowery curse words that only increase the sense of immaturity.

The romance was bland.

It read like a teenager told a story to impress their besties.

It has a stunning cover though.

julesG @TrishB I'm not sure where it's going. So far I've learned a lot about the Chinese/Shanghai Court of Hell, Fox Spirits, Half-Vampires (they don't sparkle in the sun), clothing at court and in mortal Shanghai circa 1938... I'm not sure whether this is going to be a romance or a quest. The quest-purpose-element was taken out of the equation at around 35%. I'll let you know later on whether it's a "cover buy" or 99p-deal or well worth getting the HB 1y
