**PRE-ORDER THE LOVE STORY THAT WILL KEEP YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT** Will and Rosie meet as teenagers. They're opposites in every way, but over secret walks home and late-night phone calls they become closer, destined to be one another's great love story. Until, one day, tragedy strikes and any possibility of them being together shatters. But that tragedy - and their history - is what will connect them forever...

I‘d call this a love story but not a romance, if that makes sense. I‘ve seen this compared to Sally Rooney and I can see that, even though I know many don‘t enjoy that reference but there you have it. Will and Rose find themselves gravitating towards one another time and again though many circumstances keep them apart. Told over the course of many years, from the time they‘re teens through their 30-40s. Surprised at how much I was invested!

This book got very close to being very good! It‘s got the best parts of One Day & Normal People. However, the will-they/won‘t-they continued for way too long and I lost interest.

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5/5

As soon as I saw the review that said this book gave ‘One Day vibes‘ I had to read it. One Day is one of my all time favourite books. There are aspects they are quite similar and I really enjoyed the book. It cleverly shows the difference between doing what you want and doing what you think other people want and how this can alter the course of your life. Ultimately however, you have to do what you want or risk hurting everyone around you.

#ReadAway2024 #AwesomeApril #readathon

Finished the last chapters on the plane yesterday but as I was 3/4 done, I‘m counting it as an April book. This was on my #AuldLangSpine list from @Itchyfeetreader (I‘m trying for one per month) & while I didn‘t love it as much as the others I‘ve read from the list, it gets a pick. The writing is gorgeous but pensive, even a little depressing & I found myself wanting to shake both MCs, a pair of somewhat ⬇️

DebinHawaii …star-crossed lovers who just can‘t get on the same page at the same time & as much time as they spend talking, don‘t communicate all that well. Since I have never found a true romantic soulmate, this probably bugged me more than it might others . Despite it all, it was still worth the read for the quality of the writing & a soft pick. 7mo

After a puttering morning & the post office I am now ensconced in a corner of the coffee shop for my iced dirty chai, oatmilk+ 1 pump coconut syrup latte & breakfast turnover.

Reading this book from my #AuldLangSpine list from @Itchyfeetreader & after things are less puff-pastry-messy I‘m catching up on journaling & maybe a few more #LitsyLove replies.

My gray/cloudy/drizzly #SaturdayVibe is rest & recovery from the workweek.

@StayCurious I wrote this post earlier today but I guess I forgot to actually post it. I think the tagged book would be an interesting selection for #LitsyLovesRomance. I missed the nomination and voting for February somehow, so I‘m thinking about possible offerings in the future.

StayCurious Thank you so much! Ill mark this one down 10mo

👆THIS is what I wanted Normal People to be. I tried Rooney (twice) and couldn‘t deal. This one had that same-ish back and forth, but they always wanted what was best for each other, together or not. And the writing!!! 🤌I really loved this one!

Not even halfway through this one yet, but I think it‘s going to be in my top five of the year. 🤓🏆 The cover, to me, says light hearted romance-y reading, but that is not this book. It‘s so much more 🫶

There are 2 things I didn‘t love about this book 1) a slightly dismissive lgbtq storyline and 2) no speech punctuation. Despite this I asked and am calling it a 5 star. The writing is lush and melancholy and unlike many second plus type of romance novels the characters of Will and Rosie really seemed fully fleshed out and real - no silly reasons for the ebbs and flows of their relationship just a real richness of their story
