Knockout: A Hell's Belles Novel | Sarah MacLean
15 posts | 12 read | 3 to read
New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean returns with the next Hells Belles novel about a chaotic bluestocking and the buttoned-up detective enlisted to keep her out of trouble (spoiler: She is the trouble). With her headful of wild curls and wilder ideas and an unabashed love of experiments and explosives, society has labeled Lady Imogen Loveless peculiarand doesnt know shes one of the Hells Bellesa group of vigilantes operating outside the notice of most of London. Thomas Peck is not most of London. The brilliant detective fought his way off the streets and into a promising career through sheer force of will and a keen ability to see things others miss, like the fact that Imogen isnt peculiarshes pandemonium. If you ask him, she requires a keeper. When her powerful family discovers her late-night activities, they couldnt agree moreand they know just the man for the task. Thomas wants nothing to do with guarding Imogen. He is a grown man with a proper job and no time for the ladys incendiary chaos, no matter how lushly it is packaged. But some assignments are too explosive to pass up, and the gruff detective is soon caught up in Imogens world, full of her bold smiles and burning secretsand a fiery passion that threatens to consume them both.

Tommy Go Boom! I love Imogen in all of her muchness! This feels like a nonsense review, but the MacLeaniverse girlies understand me.

Quick #AuldLangSpine wrap up - I finished two titles from @DGRachel ‘s list and loved both!

I‘m currently waiting on Starling House from my Library. For February, I‘m thinking since Knockout is Book 3 in a series, I‘ll start from the top there and try to do all 3. The author isn‘t familiar to me but its described on GR as Victorian era women smashing the patriarchy…I‘m here for it. 💖💪🏻

monalyisha Fun to focus on a romance series for February! 💘 Thanks for participating in #AuldLangSpine! Hope you had fun. ✨ 3mo
Melismatic @monalyisha thank you for hosting it! So fun - can‘t wait to get to the rest throughout the year. 3mo

Is this the Platonic ideal of a Sarah MacLean novel? https://youtu.be/BeAaOwqMjhM

Enjoyed the audiobook of Knock Out much more than I expected. I didn‘t really like the first book in the series. This is the third - I think I missed the second. But I absolutely love the reader so I had to immediately listen to another audiobook that she reads. Both books are a lower pick for story line etc …💚🐉

Knocking out the highly anticipated Knockout this holiday weekend. Managed to get through some in line for Chicago‘s new romance bookstore, The Last Chapter, yesterday. Waited in line for over an hour to get in with a line down the block until I left, which I would call a success.

I enjoyed Knockout! I feel it's the strongest of the three books so far. (Or is Imogen just the heroine I liked best? Chemistry nerds are pretty cool.)

julesG Speaking as a chemistry nerd myself, yes we are. 😁😁😁😁 8mo

Following the Littens who introduced me to this author, I'm currently reading the third Hell's Belles book.

Thank you @Lauredhel (I'm still chuckling about the yarn 😁) @DGRachel @Julsmarshall

Hands down my favorite MacLean novel to date. Never a dull moment, Knockout is full of chaos, mayhem, banter, and heat. Imogen is delightful. Tommy is so stoic and swoony, and when #tommygoboom, watch out! The secondary characters are wonderful, too. MacLean is the queen of historical romance as far as I‘m concerned and this is a perfect example of why. And that epilogue cliffhanger, y‘all…🫨

It's release day, and your third Hell's Belles cover-yarn pairing!

This is superwash sock yarn by Dyed By Hand yarns. The colourway is, and I am not making this up: “Nice Melons“.

Enjoy!

Lauredhel @julesG I swear I only noticed the colourway name AFTER I had chosen this yarn as the best cover match 8mo

She‘s here!!
(Devastated they didn‘t do a hardcover edition to match the rest of the series, but happy to have Imogen no matter the format!)

I loved this book! I‘ve been waiting for Imogene‘s story since the beginning of the Hell‘s Belles series and it did not disappoint! I love how confident and salty our heroine can be but also sweet and loving. And the banter! The push and pull of a chemist and bomb enthusiast and a by the book detective falling for each other is fantastic! Releases 8/22! #ARC #netgalleygroup #BookspinBingo @AllDebooks @TheAromaofBooks

My Kindle Oasis was getting slow and the battery draining fast even in airplane mode. I kept waiting for Amazon to put out a new Oasis, but no luck. Finally ordered the newer paperwhite with wireless charging. I miss Oasis' buttons, but liking the new eReader otherwise.
I also can't resist putting stickers on things.
