This book is so much fun! Just as good as the prequel, and I can‘t wait to read the sequel! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I REALLY enjoyed the sequel to City of Stairsz way more than the first one. Mulagesh is now probably my favourite character, and I felt the story in this book was a lot more thrilling and captivating than the previous one. I'm now even more excited to read the final book in the series. Highly recommend this.

The last third of this #buddyread was supposed to keep me entertained until Sunday, but I already finished it because I just could not stop myself.

Afternoon reading. Working from home right now means that my garden is only some steps away - at least some improvement in this situation.

My optimism is quite low on the scale today.... book and beer it is.

In the sequel to City of Stairs, General Mulahgesh is sent to the country of Voortystan to determine if their dead god is really as dead as legend says. And if so, just who is raising an army of the dead in her place? Not as lyrical in language as the first book, perhaps appropriately, being about a much more practical main character. The tale says a lot about what being a soldier in a time of war really means.

I wasn‘t sure if I would like this as much as city of stairs due to the change in MC.
However this was just as good as the first!

Sent to Voortyashtan as part of her touring shuffle, Turyin is tasked to find out about an ore the military has discovered which may have links with the divine. When gruesome murders of isolated families begins, Turyin realises that there is more at play than the ore, and that war is coming.

This series continues to be fabulous. It blends so many of my favorite genres, the characters are insanely well developed, and the story is never predictable. Highly recommend. Full review here: http://novelnotions.net/2018/07/27/cityofblades/

I‘m absolutely loving both of these so far. They couldn‘t be more different from one another, and that makes me happy. I feel so well rounded as a reader right now. 😂😂

It started a little slow, but once you get hooked it HOOKS you (I would review City of Stairs the same way). I was surprised that the author decided to explore another character and keep Shara in the background, but I enjoyed being in the General‘s head for a bit. I won‘t spoil the ending, but it was surprisingly bittersweet. I would recommend it to the Game of Thrones fan who wants to spend a bit more time with kickass lady heroes.

“I think I‘ll just read for a half hour,” I said. That was two hours ago. Oops.

Turyin Mulaghesh is my hero. Fantastic book, great to see how the characters developed. Looking toward to the next one.

Trying to get one more book in before school starts on Monday.

Somehow manages to clear the very high bar of City of Stairs. Follows the events of that novel but wisely switches the lens to another character's perspective. Speaks more eloquently than we deserve about service and the futility of war.

Just finished City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett, hands down the best book I've read this year. I didn't think an adequate follow up to City of Stairs could exist but this surpassed every expectation. If you're looking for a gritty, nail biter of a fantasy novel I highly recommend you give this series a shot. This guy writes like a freight train, it may take some time to gain momentum but when it picks up you can't help being swept away.

Henry is also super into this series by Robert Jackson Bennett. Loved City of Stairs, really excited to start City of Blades!

For some reason I can't seem to get through this book, even though it is every bit as good as the first one! I guess I just miss Shara.

Second in the Divine Cities series. Real talk I will read this author's grocery list. I am not a particularly impartial reviewer here. One of my favorite current authors.
