***GIVE THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS EARLY. PRE-ORDER THIS DELICIOUSLY DARK CHRISTMAS MYSTERY FOR FANS OF CLEVER, PUZZLING CRIME. THE PERFECT STOCKING FILLER*** THIS CHRISTMAS, A KILLER TAKES FAMILY GAMES TO A MURDEROUS NEW LEVEL. On 19th of December, renowned puzzle setter, loner and Christmas sceptic Edie OSullivan finds a hand-delivered present on her doorstep. Unwrapping it, she finds a jigsaw box and, inside, six jigsaw pieces. When fitted together, the pieces show part of a crime scene blood-spattered black and white tiles and part of an outlined body. Included in the parcel is a message: Four, maybe more, people will be dead by midnight on Christmas Eve, unless you can put all the pieces together and stop me. Its signed, Rest In Pieces. Edie contacts her nephew, DI Sean Brand-OSullivan, and together they work to solve the clues. But when a man is found near death with a jigsaw piece in his hand, Sean fears that Edie might be in danger and shuts her out of the investigation. As the body count rises, however, Edie knows that only she has the knowledge to put together the killers murderous puzzle. Only by fitting all the pieces together will Edie be able to stop a killer and finally lay her past to rest. This was the weakest book by Alexandra Benedict. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was very middling but it was an ok festive murder mystery

This... wasn't great. Probably wasn't even good if I'm being truthful.

I love how lively Benedict's narrative voice is, but this is the weakest of her 3x festive mysteries so far.

Am I going to keep reading them? Of course. They're frivolous (I.e. silly), festive fun.

Am I going to recommend you read them too?

Probably not.

#wondrouswednesday @Eggs ?
Thanks for the tag @julesG ?

1) A snowball (Advocaat + Lemonade ?)

2) American Littens: Would you like to experience Xmas in the UK? Stick on the following playlist. It's forever 1973 here.

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6Xf7LsOkNcyhWRN6A2jrBe?si=OV0gi9ApTm6Z3gXyqnoV...

Not a carol, but I'm gonna say "Christmas Tree" by Lady Gaga

3) Tea, blanket, Pickles (the cat, not the gherkins)

The_Penniless_Author Thanks for the tag 😀 5mo
Susanita I‘ll have to check out the Gaga song! 5mo

Eggs Thanks for playing! And thx for the 🎶 link ❤️ 5mo
RaeLovesToRead @Eggs After listening to Slade and Wizzard on repeat, you may not thank me 😉 Seriously though it blows my mind that these songs aren't popular overseas because they are literally the sound of Xmas here 😅 5mo

Speaking of Christmas jigsaw murders, this isn't an Xmas one, but it's probably one of my favourite puzzle scenes I've ever created 💕

Is it just me or do not very many octogenarians use the phrases "go full Poirot" and "going full hedgerow"?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Clare-Dragonfly Maybe they should! 5mo

Pickpick

A fun, quirky and very different Christmas story featuring some zany characters. It‘s quite a clever little mystery with a few puzzles for the reader to solve, too. Lighthearted and humorous with dark overtones, it‘s well plotted and written in an easy and fast flowing style. An entertaining and brain teaser of a read, it had me gripped throughout and kept my attention until the end. #TBC on Facebook
