Not a “love” book but a like one. I‘m so impartial to everyone in the story and feel not invested in everyone but kind of Melody. But I‘m happy with the ending.

Melody realizes she has suppressed the first nine years of her life - she is Melody Ribblesdale and her life before being adopted by the Brownes is happy and sad -it took a minute for me to get hooked but once I did I couldn't put it down.

This book is about a young woman searching for answers about her mysterious past. Melody Browne‘s house burned down when she was a child. All her family‘s possessions and her memories were destroyed. Melody has had no recollection of her life before the fire. She is now a single mother in her early 30's living in London with her teenage son.

EadieB She hasn‘t seen her parents since she left home at fifteen. While attending a hypnotist show with a date, she faints. When she comes around, she suddenly remembers her life before the fire. The story has a complex plot with multiple storylines and believable characters. There are lots of secrets with shocking twists that kept the pages turning until the very end. 3y
EadieB If you enjoy stories about family then you will enjoy this book. I have read many of Lisa Jewell's novels and have enjoyed them all. 3y

I‘m conflicted on this one. Pretty different from most of Jewell's other books in the sense that we're not solving a crime or figuring out whodunnit. Melody has no memories from her early childhood, everything before the age of 9 is completely blank. Until a chance encounter with a hypnotist sets in motion the trickling release of her repressed memories, who she really is, and what she experienced as a kid. It mostly just made me sad ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fabulous tale of repressed memories and the slow process of bringing them back. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and didn‘t want it to end.

This is the kind of book that makes you 1) Realize how blessed you are to have a stable childhood in a loving home. 2) Realize that we have absolutely no idea what a person‘s life is like. Melody Brown, in her 30‘s gets hypnotized and suddenly starts have flashback memories of a childhood she has totally repressed. Told in 2 time lines- we learn about the incredibly chaotic childhood Melody experienced but still was loved.

Another awesome Lisa Jewell!! Can‘t get enough of this author. This one was a bit reminiscent of her books The Family Upstairs and The Making of Us, even though this one was written first.

Definitely a beautiful read that really highlights the importance of the relationship between parents and their children. There were some heartbreaking moments and some beautiful character building.

Melody, after living more than half her life thinking her adoptive parents were her real parents and not knowing any better due to post traumatic memory loss, begins to have flashback memories of her childhood. These snatches of memory lead her to investigate and question all she thought to be true. Another solid, drama filled, low substance yet highly entertaining listen from Jewell. 3.5/5 ⭐️

Why yes, I am sitting outside on my patio in my pajamas while #audioknitting and drinking wine at 2pm on a December afternoon. It‘s called “vacation.” More specifically...vacation in the south. 😂 #knittersoflitsy #audiobook

When @Andrew65 told me that this book was his favorite Lisa Jewell book, I just had to read it. But unfortunately my library did not have a copy so I ordered one online. I was so happy to receive my book in the mail today. I look forward to reading it soon. I seem to be doing a binge on Lisa Jewell books too! Oh well, life is too short to not enjoy yourself fully!
