I absolutely adore the movie, so this book has been on my TBR for quite some time. Its a lot different than I thought it would be. I still enjoyed it and really love a good book about sisters because I always wanted one myself growing up. The Owens ladies didn‘t disappoint and I can‘t wait to read the rest of the series! 4/5 #12bookschallenge

Okay, I think I wasn‘t in the right headspace for this book because the world building was a little overwhelming. It‘s a unique concept and it took a while to wrap my brain around all the details. There‘s a lot of creatures and characters to keep up with, which made some parts hard to understand exactly what was happening. But the ending was really good and I‘m definitely gonna give this series a try! Already got the 2nd book on hold!

This is an excellent original historical romance by a favorite author of mine. This is her first foray into historical romance and I look forward to reading more of this series. Both main characters are lovable and well paired. My only criticism is the miscommunication, which is my biggest romance pet peeve.. However, I really did enjoy the time period, the love story and the cultural aspects to the story. 4.5⭐️
