Catching up on some reviews.

I‘ve been following Jen Campbell on her YouTube channel for years. This is one of her favorite books, and when I saw it in the bookstore I knew that I had to read it.

This book was different from what I expected and there was more than one surprise here.

How I love listening to this series! In the 3rd installment of the Midsomer Murders series, Barnaby and Troy are called to investigate a suspicious death at the home of a religious group/cult. Graham really dives into the psyche of her characters in this one - it‘s a wild ride! #192025 #1992

Just finished rereading this one for an upcoming book discussion at the library. I appreciate the snarky humor interlaced with the slow build of the story. I‘m looking forward to reading this series with my library‘s book discussion group!

For the #AwesomeAugust #Readathon , I‘m aiming for my usual goal of 20 hours.

Sunday afternoon means time relaxing with cats. #Zeke #Xander #CatsOfLitsy

robinb I have never read this author, but she seems very prolific. Her name pops up everywhere. 2y
LapReader Love that rug. 2y
Librarybelle @robinb And she keeps writing! 2y

Librarybelle @LapReader It‘s a very comfy blanket, but the cats treat it like a rug! 2y
robinb @Librarybelle Does she do stand-alones or series? Or both? Anywhere I should start with her? 2y
Librarybelle @robinb She writes the Commissario Brunetti series set in Venice. I‘m just starting out on the series for my virtual book discussion group I lead at the library, but from what I understand, the characters age as the series progresses, so it‘s definitely good to start at the beginning. This one is the first. I think she wrote a novel too, but she‘s known for this mystery series. 2y
robinb @Librarybelle Great, thanks for the info. I‘ll like to get to her sometime. 😂🤪 2y
rwmg I've got this on my virtual TBR list. Do I need to start another long-running series? When has that ever stopped me before? 2y
Librarybelle @rwmg I know exactly what you mean! 2y

This could be best described as a 'Quantum Romance". From the book jacket:

"Jeremy Bremen has a secret. All his life he has been cursed with the unwanted ability to read minds...his wife, Gail, has served as a shield between Jeremy and the intrusive thoughts of those around him...but now Gail is dying...and Jeremy comes face-to-face with the horror of his own omniscience"

Part 3 #Amazon #Bookhaul #Mars #BenBova

One of the first #science-fiction novels I read as a #teenager when this came out in #1992 Now nearly #27 years later we are only a few years from making this #science-fact

In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel when I read a few times as a teenager and young adult. Let's see if I still find it enjoyable and how accurate Bova's novel is compared with the real thing.

One more February group read done! This book is short, but not quick. The story weaves in and out of the past and present of husband and wife Joe and Violet Trace of NYC, formerly of rural...Virginia? The present being in the 1920s. My big question: who is the narrator of the last chapter? I‘m confused. Good, but certainly not my favorite by Morrison. #1001books #192019 #1992

Like jazz this is sometimes so frank and visceral then takes off on dreamlike trips rising and falling all over the place but it's always provocative and engaging and moving and the writing well nobody else does it like Toni. #birthdaychallenge #1992

Glad I finally read her first novel. It's sad and strange with maybe just a tad too much Catholic mystery for this lapsed Catholic. The writing and characters are very good, and the plot is initially extremely engrossing but gets increasingly uneven through the three sections. The ending was the weakest part for me, but still for every bit that screams rookie, there are bits that cut right through you and sing of all the brilliant books to come.

KVanRead Was interested to discover there was a TV movie with Dana Delaney and Ellen Burstyn. 7y

Sticking with Patchett since I enjoyed Commonwealth so much. I hated coming to the end of it and then I remembered this one has been waiting patiently on #TBRMountain for quite some time. Yay! Really liking it so far. #BirthdayChallenge #1992

As with all Lynley Dodd book, this was an absolute delight to read out loud! I loved finding out what Slinki Malinki did to find himself in DEEP DISGRACE! 🤣 Cat owners can probably easily relate. #1992

Libby1 I read this with my son all the time. We love it. 7y
Sace I swear the children's books that I see on Litsy can be the biggest temptation. 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Libby1, I'm forever in love with Schnitzel von Crumm with the very low tum from 7y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Sace, ☺☺☺ I've decided to read a picture book from each year I've been alive, so there will be plenty more temptation posted soon! 7y
Sue These books are just the best! (and I'm not just saying that because we share a surname) 7y
DogMomIrene I adore Slinky Malinki! I had to buy a used copy on Amazon for friends fostering a little boy. The SO turned his nose up at giving someone a used book, but there were no new options and I insisted that this little boy HAD to have Slinky Malinki in his life! Next up will be Hairy McClary. 7y
Sue Have you seen this one? It's NOT for little kids but great value 7y
Sace @thegirlwiththelibrarybag that's cool! And sounds fun! 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @ocdIrene, definitely need as many Lynley Dodd books as possible to be incorporated into life :) spoilers : there is a new cat on the scene! 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Sue, I hadn't. I'm equal parts repelled and amused 🤔 7y
LeahBergen I read these over and over to my nephew. He loved 7y
Sue @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I had a similar reaction 😂 7y
Centique It's always exciting to me to see an NZ author on here. All the mums around (incl me) have a religious fervour for Lynley Dodd. I can still recite most of Hairy McClary from Donaldsons Dairy by heart 😂😂😂 Also I do a GREAT scar face claw impression if anyone ever makes an audio book! 😂 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Centique, THE TOUGHEST TOM IN TOWN! ahhhh, I love it! I used to read it to my brother and sister... that and (edited) 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @LeahBergen, he has excellent taste in picture books! :) 7y
