I hated to end of this novel!Assistant curator of Egyptology,Dr. Lauren Westlake,is in the process of creating an exhibit on Egyptian artifacts including the mummified Hetsumina. So much of the interior settings in the MET are familiar to me which enhanced my reading experience.”Egyptomania”was at the apex in the City after King Tut‘s tomb was discovered.Enter DI Joe Caravello who joins forces with Lauren to uncover a plethora of forgeries.Deceit⬇️

kspenmoll ⬆️ subterfuge, undercurrents of evil abound. Fortunately, romance & found family adds love & hope to the mix. I just discovered there are two more books in this series, one to be published in April 2026 on one (Ivy)of two of Lauren‘s roommates who works at New York Historical Society, & book 2, is about Elsa, an ornithologist who works at the NY Museum of Natural History, (edited) 6d

Murder Under the Mistletoe (Jane Wunderly 4.5), by Erica Ruth Neubauer (2023)
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Premise: Amateur detective Jane and her mysterious fiancé arrive at his father‘s manor to find him engaged to a woman notorious for outliving her husbands.

Review: This is the 2nd time I allowed a glowing review to sway me to read this series; it will be the last. But the mystery itself works very well, and if that‘s what is important to you, then this works ⬇️

Mattsbookaday But the writing is just atrocious to me, from bland dialog played off as wit, obvious conclusions played off as insightful, to outright contradictions. Not for me. But again, the mystery works

Bookish Pair: For similar vibes but done well, Hercule Poirot‘s Christmas, by Agatha Christie (1938)

a disappearing
body, Lin Chung‘s a hottie —
racism abounds.

Phryne goes on a getaway to stay with rich people à la Agatha Christie with her Chinese paramour Lin Chung. They have to deal with racism against Lin and a disappearing dead body along the way. Love this series. 5⭐️

I devoured this series. I have learned so much about 1920s India from reading about a female barrister. Women issues, which are worldwide, but seems so much worse in these books because of the different traditions. In this book, women healthcare, or the lack of it, is brought to the front. It's cleverly written. The way that Perveen handles herself in a man's world is brilliantly constructed. And, I have to wait till April for the next one.

Karisa Love this series too! 😍 3mo
Jas16 I have the first book sitting on my shelves. I really need to make it a priority. 3mo

Listening to this while cooking tonight. An enjoyable “cozy” set in post WWI countryside. A nice break from the intensity of the last two Joyce Ellis audio novels.

Librarybelle I enjoyed listening to this series. 3mo
