Who else took advantage of Barnes & Noble‘s member‘s sale? This girl did! And I got this nifty tote bag, too! 🙋🏻‍♀️📚
#BarnesNoble #bookhaul #booktote

Desha Love this! Did this start today for members? I can‘t remember what my email from BN said this morning! 🤣 4mo
QuietlyLaura @Desha The sale started today for members and on Saturday for nonmembers. In store and online. Friday is also for members. ☺️ 4mo
Leftcoastzen Oh, more temptation! 4mo

This is me right now. I went to Barnes & Noble today to take advantage of their 50% sale. As I was stepping up onto the sidewalk two big guys busted through the bookstore‘s doors yelling and shoving each other. One accused the other of stealing and they kept this up as they rounded the corner of the building. I‘ve rarely been around physical violence so it was all shocking. My nerves couldn‘t take it so I went right home sans books. #BarnesNoble

britt_brooke OMG. That‘s ridiculous. Sorry you had to see that. I would‘ve left too. 1y
Julsmarshall I‘m so sorry they ruined your trip 😥 1y
RavenLovelyReads Yikes! You‘d expect that at a bar not a bookstore. Hope your evening gets better :) 1y

CouronneDhiver Oh Laura... that‘s awful 🙁 I‘m sorry that they messed up your shopping trip. Maybe try again tomorrow instead? So ridiculous 1y
QuietlyLaura @britt_brooke @Julsmarshall @RavenLovelyReads @CouronneDhiver You are all very nice. I understand being in public means all sorts of things can happen but at the bookstore? And it‘s the only bookstore around so it‘s not like I can go anywhere else. 😔 (edited) 1y
RavenLovelyReads No- this shouldn‘t happen at a bookstore. I can‘t imagine walking into that alone, with a friend, or my children. It should have been handled in a different way. 1y
CouronneDhiver People act so dumb sometimes. It shouldn‘t leak into an intelligent place like a bookstore. 😂 I think those two got lost... took a wrong turn and missed the gentleman‘s club or something 1y
QuietlyLaura @RavenLovelyReads I agree with you. Even if I was with my husband I would have still been rattled although he can usually help me feel safe again. 1y
QuietlyLaura @CouronneDhiver Dumb people are not something I go to the bookstore to find! The fact that this Barnes & Noble is attached to a large mall doesn‘t help because so many people use the bookstore as a highway to get to parking lots. I also don‘t think those two men qualify as gentleman! 😑 1y
Linear Hmm, is there something wrong with me. That i would have simply side stepped them and continued on with my walk into the store for books? Where i lived before in Savannah, the B and N was attached to a mall. And yeah most people would just walk through to use the cafe and get into the rest of the mall. It was kind of annoying going through foot traffic. 1y
QuietlyLaura @Linear I can only speak for myself. I have severe Anxiety. 1y

Who here in the #LitsyUniverse enjoys reading #CozyMysteries? This is one of three sections for Cozy Mysteries in the #BarnesNoble I'm in right now. My goodness, there's *a lot* on tap!!! I never realized they were so popular. Always finding new things no matter how often I visit bookstores 😎👍🏻👌🏻. Any #recs on where to even begin? 😆

jpmcwisemorgan I read them sometimes, usually if I find them someplace cheap. I think it depends on what you like because there's a theme for everyone! 3y
Eyelit I liked the bibliophile mysteries by Kate Carlisle - about a bookbinder/restorer who gets involved with some murder mysteries - there are so many book/bookstore/library related cozies! 3y
PurpleyPumpkin LOVE them! They're such an easy and fun way to escape. 📚 3y

StellaDz I've wanted to try them for years but have no idea where to start! 3y
drokka I read #cozies all the time. They're quite practical for public transit commutes. I've been searching on Litsy for other #cozymystery readers but had no luck so far. Thanks for this :) 3y
DebinHawaii Yes! I like them as a fun quick read on my Kindle mostly. You can find them pretty much for any interest. I generally prefer food-related or book-related cozies but have read and enjoyed other themes. I'd find a subject that interests you & start with the first book in that series. 📚👍 3y
Library-Belle My grandma is addicted to cozy mysteries... I should take a run across the border for her birthday if this is the selection at B&N 3y
KimHM My favorites in the #cozymystery genre are so old fashioned they're likely not in print any longer, but Charlotte MacLeod has four series (two under that name, two as Alisa Craig) that are well written and lots of fun. The Sarah Kelling & Max Bittersohn series is set in and around Boston. The Peter Shandy series is set in a weird little agricultural college. The ones she wrote as Alisa Craig are set in Canada. 3y
KimHM Earlene Fowler writes #cozymysteries in a quilting/museum context that tackle some genuinely thoughtful themes. I'm partial to that series because the character has ties to the midwest, though the books are set in California. Carolyn Hart's Death on Demand bookstore mysteries are a fun meta take on the genre. 3y
LauraBeth I feel dumb when I read them because I can NEVER figure out the ending - I'm always like, "quelle surprise!" So I don't read that many to keep my self-esteem intact ? 3y
johnnie_cakes Some of my favorites - The Lighthouse Library series by Eva Gates, the County Cork series by Sheila Connelly, Victoria Abbott's series, Gigi Pandian's Jaya Jones series. And if you want a little paranormal with your cozy, either series by Victoria Laurie & Juliet Blsck 3y
johnnie_cakes I hit enter too soon. That last one was supposed to be the Haunted Home Renovation series by Juliet Blackwell 3y
ReadingEnvy I like the Charleston tea shop mysteries by Laura Childs 3y
CherylRussell Any of the series by Amanda Flower/Isabella Alan (she writes under both names) 3y
MrsV I love cozy mysteries. I use them as a palette cleanser if I read a few intense reads in a row. 3y
Titania Not a fan myself, but I have 2 (not on Litsy) friends who are serious about their cozies. It's a never ending universe in cozy land! 3y
BethFishReads Some of my favorite escape reading. But I seem to have gotten away from them 3y
readinginthedark I'll second the Lighthouse Library series by Eva Gates! It's a fun one, and I just wish that library was real! 3y
Tav Diane Mott Davidson writes a hack of a cozy. I also love Charles Todd--he's historical whilst Davidson is contemporary. 3y
Tav *heck, not hack. Wow, talk about a bad type-o. 3y
LauraBrook My mom reads a lot, and she's gotten me hooked on the genre. I like both the Bee series and Scotland series by Hannah Reed, the Duck, NC series by Joyce and Jim Lavene. Mom likes Agatha Raisin series by MC Beaton, Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton, anything by Susan Wittig Albert. If you want more, I'll be talking to her tonight and can get more names. 3y
NHLibrarian Cozies are popular at my library. Try the Hamish Macbeth series by MC Beaton, or the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley. Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs is also well loved. 3y
[DELETED] 2232195534 There's a cozy for every pursuit and more. My mystery group is reading cooking themed cozies for September. Plus, all are encouraged to try a recipe from whatever book they sample. Think it will be fun! I can recommend Jenn McKinlay's Cupcake Bakery series. Guaranteed to make you hungry!! 😀 3y
Lynnsoprano I've recently read a couple. It's anew genre for me, but I've enjoyed them. 3y
ElizabethAndino You guys!! WHAT IS A COZY?! I'm soooo excited to find out! 3y
drokka @ElizabethAndino Cozies are typically light mysteries featuring and amateur sleuth/detective. There are variations on this but that's the basic premise. 3y
kspenmoll I read them when i need escape & don't have to think too much! 3y
Mdargusch I love the Flavia de Luce series. They are so fun. She is a spunky little sleuth. I had no idea those books were called cozies. I will be reading more of these! 3y
minkyb I love mysteries cozy or non-cozy. I didn't know Maisie Dobbs was considered a cozy mystery. I love Maisie! 3y
MrBook @jpmcwisemorgan Many themes is a good thing 😊👍🏻. @Eyelit Oooh, yessss! Added 😁. @PurpleyPumpkin Sound like breaths of fresh air 😊👌🏻. @StellaDz Me too. I saw them all and has that too-many-options wave of overwhelmingness hit me, lol. @drokka Aww, well, I've got word out on the street now 😉👌🏻! That's how I felt about postal book clubs, and mine came together literally over-night 😊👍🏻. 3y
MrBook @DebinHawaii How about folks in Hawaii? Do they have that interest niche ???? Food- and book-related ones sound up my alley ?. @Library-Belle Well, you're gift supply pipeline will never run dry, lol!!! @KimHM Nice! Thank you for the #recs!!! @LauraBeth How can you feel dumb when you use the word "quelle" ??! I didn't learn that word until French 1 in high school. @johnnie_cakes Lighthouse Library sounds perfect?????! Paranormal too! Ty! 3y
MrBook @ReadingEnvy Ohhh, tea shoooop. I've heard of her before 😊👍🏻. @CherylRussell Ooh, I like that title 😁. @MrsV That seems to be their main purpose, which sounds delicious to me 😊. @Titania Let's get them on @Litsy already 😊👍🏻! @BethFishReads They've escaped your radar screen? Dang it 😊! @readinginthedark @johnnie_cakes Lighthouse Library for the win 😊👍🏻! @Tav Autocorrect makes me look so bad sometimes 😂👍🏻. Historical is good too. 3y
MrBook @LauraBrook Oooh, these ones sound good 😁: @LornaDH , you may like the Scotland one; @KimM @BooksTeasAndBookishThings @MeganAnn y'all may like the NC series 😊. @NHLibrarian Those names, so cool 😎👌🏻. @kaysreadinglife Did...did you say cupcake series 😳?! 😁👌🏻! @Lynnsoprano If you enjoy them, then maybe I will too 😊🙌🏻. @ElizabethAndino What @drokka said, plus they are not gratuitous or violent or gory or off-putting, right? 3y
MrBook @kspenmoll Based on their vast numbers, it seems a lot of people have the same need 😊👍🏻. @Mdargusch You're another person to mention Flavia. Flavia's moved up the list, lol. We're all learning together 😁👏🏻👍🏻. @minkyb See, what would you do without my curious brain to help sort things out 😆🙌🏻! 3y
missjenniferlowe @KimHM I love Charlotte MacLeod! 3y
LauraBrook Flavia de Luce books are one of my favorite series ever!! And I know there's debate about these being cozies (since, among other things, they're shelved under regular mysteries), but the Louise Penny Inspector Gamache series is excellent! No lingering on fire or violence, but it is there is small bits. They're so good! 3y
LornaDH @MrBook - got exited when I saw the tag. Thought you guys got the #litsygoespostal book! 😀 3y
DebinHawaii @MrBook Well, I can't speak for all of Hawaii 😀 but I certainly see a lot of them in bookstores, thrift stores, the library, etc. so I am guessing they are popular here too. I have a few cozies on my Kindle set in the islands but I have not gotten around to them yet. 🌴🍍🌺 3y
MrBook @LauraBrook Duly noted and applied 😎😊👌🏻👍🏻! 3y
MrBook @LornaDH Just received your package moments ago! 😆😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎 3y
MrBook @DebinHawaii You are here forever deemed #LitsyHawaiianAmbassador, and I now grant you the privilege and authority to speak for the whole of Hawaii. Go forth and spread thy speaking far and wide in the #LitsyUniverse! May all hear, listen, and respect you throughout this noble realm! Godspeed! 3y
DebinHawaii @MrBook Thank you Sir. I shall carry the honor and the grave responsibility it entails with great pride. 🎖🌴🍍 3y
drokka Throwing in my hat re: Flavia de Luce novels. They're a bit genius really. I'm also mad for Hamish Macbeth. I stopped reading fiction for 5 years (blame Uni) and lost touch with cozies. Back in force now and have found some that I enjoy. There's a postal series @MrBook by Jean Flowers the first is Death Takes Priority. The second comes out in Sept or Oct. i get it and the Joyce Tremel Brewing Trouble release dates mixed up 3y
ElizabethAndino @drokka @MrBook ...thanks for enlightening me...gotta give these a try!!! 3y
MrBook @ElizabethAndino 😁👍🏻 I do what I can! 3y
