For some reason I‘m very much in a slump. Eye racing more so than audio, though that‘s affected too. Going to try some print graphic novels to break the spell lol.
This is a Batman at the start of his career story.
It follows on from another story but works as a standalone.
I was surprised by this one as it had a vampire theme to it and was surprisingly violent.
It's a Batman battles a vampire cult story, and I enjoyed it a lot.
The appeal of this dark comic described as Richard Starry‘s Busy Town meets Dexter is in the disconnect between illustrations that (mostly) wouldn‘t look out of place in a children‘s book with a storyline about a gruesome murder spree in a small town & a 🐻 who is concerned that her own murderous ways are on the verge of being uncovered.
That said, I thought this would have a more tongue in cheek vibe but this is just dark, which isn‘t my vibe.
My #staycationintimeswap has arrived safe and sound! 🎉Super excited to open it (and super anxious about the last items on their way so I can mail my own out 😅) @Bookwormjillk
This is an absolute must read for any big fans of Tolkien and Lewis. It‘s the story of their friendship told as a graphic novel with excursions into the creation of the fantasy genre and more. It‘s part biography, part fantastical tale, and part choose your own adventure. I love that it explores the friendship, but it also gives info about both men‘s childhoods, marriage, and time as soldiers. It‘s wonderfully done.
Superb silliness continues...
Highlights include:
Halloween costume contest
Fighting a cold with memorably aggressive imagery
Could NOT stop cringing during the attempts at rap, I think that was intentional?
In this mini-series, comics veteran Louise Simonson takes us on a whirlwind tour of Jean Grey's most pivotal decisions. What if Jean had acted differently? This was really fun and you can read it even if you aren't caught up on X-Men.
I love this series so much! I‘m kind of forgetting some past characters at this point, but there are enough context clues that I‘m not lost.
