Yikes!!! This was a hot mess...I‘m so bummed this was my #firstbook of 2018☹️After reading Andy Weir‘s bio it‘s clear that Mr. Weir is an awesome “space nerd” and probably a gifted software engineer but he can‘t write a female protagonist,especially a young Muslim 😬Had this been his #firstbook I‘m pretty sure he would not have received a publishing contract. #sorry #NotforMe #pop18 #involvingaheist

LauraBeth If I was his agent, I would recommend that he try writing a non-fiction book about space. I think he possesses the talent to be able to really capture that well for the Neil deGrasse Tyson crowd. 6y

Reviewsbylola My mom was just saying this morning that he‘s a horrible author. 😂😬 Yes, he has so much knowledge @LauraBeth That‘s why my husband loved The Martian so much. He read an interview with an expert in the field who apparently said The Martian was the most realistic sci fi ever written because it actually could have happened. Personally I liked Artemis better only because of the action. The Martian bored me to tears. 6y

Natasha.C.Barnes I read the Martian while backpacking and while it wasn't GREAT, it was interesting enough to get me up a hill and for that I was grateful. But I've heard that this book is such garbage, I'm not going near it. 6y

Cinfhen I didn't love the Martian either @MicheleinPhilly but I thought he did a cool job of making science/space enjoyable....not so much with this one! I agree @Mdargusch what was the point of Jazz being written as a female when she seemed more like a fraternity boy🤷‍♀️it just didn't work for me @Andrew65 @emilyhaldi 6y
