The descriptions are wonderful. There‘s a definite sense of time and place. The author really brought it all to life for me. The cicadas are so loud, but it feels like a fall morning. I really hope that we're on our way to cooler weather. It's been rough not being able to sit out and read in the mornings due to the high humidity; today was a nice change. School and XC season has started back and I'm already stressed. Love the students but being around people wears me out and I haven't had the energy to read.

pickThis is quite a slow burner of a read. It gets off to a leisurely start and then the action begins to pick up from the middle of the book. It‘s beautifully written and quite dark in its composition. It‘s very atmospheric and occasionally put a shiver down my spine. The characters are believable. I can thoroughly recommend this engrossing and eerie story to those who enjoy their books on the darker side! #Lovereading

pickThis really was a beautiful book. These characters were so appealing and so complex, I was definitely rooting for them. And I so appreciated that there wasn‘t any real melodrama, which I totally expected given the plot. (Do you ever find yourself waiting for something bad to happen in a book or movie?)
